Sorry, I didn't see this at the time, @Shannonball. Chaingang was a shop at Clapton Pond, formerly a branch of Yellow Jersey (a London mini-chain of four shops that operated until the late 80s or early 90s, don't know when they stopped). It was run by Darren (don't know his surname). Tom Board worked there for a while and taught Darren about framebuilding (although I'm sure he'd also learnt somewhere else). It was my local shop and I went there quite a lot until it closed sometime in the early 00s. I then heard that Darren had taken up framebuilding from home (in North-west London?) and I bumped into him one more time at Critical Mass a few years later, but I don't know what he does now, or indeed whether this frame was built by him or Tom. Darren should still be around somewhere, but I heard at least ten years ago that Tom had gone into a nursing home, and I don't know if he's still alive. He was already quite old when I met him. Hope this still helps!
Does anyone know anything about Chaingang Cycles? This touring bike was made by them. I have heard that Chaingang were a cooperative group in the 1980s, but I'd be grateful for any further details.
