  • Isolation must be taking its toll if you're cleaning tyres :P

  • Overrides are nice and don't cost the earth. can't comment on durability

  • Well I’ve cleaned everything else so... 🤷‍♂️

  • I got my ultrasonic cleaner out to do a cassette. I'm too lazy to do it though which has the knock-on effect of that bike not getting a new chain which means I'll not bother getting the wheel on, which means it'll not get ridden for another year. :S

  • Nowt the sealant can't handle for now, was just thinking about getting some stock in while I still have work.

  • At that price I figured they'd be worth a shot regardless.

  • I think I'll get some Overrides as they seem to be by far the cheapest. But thanks all for the recommendations

  • I'm in the same position, I love my Challenge Strada Bianca 36c, but pricey, slightly fragile and wear quickly (~1000km at the rear).

I put faith in some cheap Clement Strada 32c, I slashed one after 40km and the remaining one is proving to be slow on road, not grippy at all on tarmac, half decent on gravel - when not slashed.

Keen to hear about the Override.

    Other options:

    1. Ritchey Alpine - anyone tried these?
    2. Goodyear County - No stock in sight

Unfortunately Gravelkings seem the most sensible option when looking at tires.

  • Pro 4 endurance v2's sold out (at good price) before I got round to buying, anyone tried the WTB Exposure 30c?

  • I have the Ritcheys, impressed with road speed and puncture resistance. Seemed OK on gravel but most miles on road tbh. Would buy again.
Conversely though I've had a few pairs of Clement Stradas and thought pretty good for price, but yes slow on road.
GKs I sold within weeks, punctured a number of times.

  • I'm used to Conti 4seasons, and the Clement compound doesn't offer even a fraction of the grip, yet it seems to wear quite quickly. But I agree that you get what you pay for.

  • Also, which Ritcheys do you refer to, the Comp or WCS/Stronghold?
The latter is twice as expensive.

  • That's right, there's 3 types including wired, not that easily identified as visually all the same. I had the WCS but quite spendy now, think the price has gone up. Very few suppliers, Bike24 seemed best last time I looked.

  • I've got the WCS Stronghold and pretty happy with them. Am moving them on actually not for any reason other than they aren't tubeless.

  • 35c? I'd be keen to give them a try depending on price

EDIT: Ritchey website says the WCS are tubeless

  • 30's I'm afraid.

  • What are the forum noted tyres for 26"*2.35 and non-gnar riding? Currently on Schwalbe Crazy Bobs on 25mm external rims, which are balloony and heavy. Would be up for something lighter and more supple... ta...

  • Rat Trap Pass (Extralight). Commuted 100k on them today. Fabulous tyres.

  • Your commute is 100k? Or you mean you hit 100k worth of commuting today?

  • 50k each way yes, but normally take a car (booooo).

  • Gracias, Tijs. (Wallet weeps.)

  • Yep, love the rat trap passes. Just make sure your Canti brakes don't get knocked and tear a hole in the sidewall, like I did. Twice.

  • Got a set of WTB Riddlers and for the life of me I can't get them seated right (must have had the tyres off at least half a dozen times). They're fine offroad but as soon as I'm on tarmac the bump-bump-bump feeling pisses me off. Never had the problem before; any tips?

  • No experience with those specific tires, but as a general rule, here are a few things to check :
-is the rim worn in any way (dented or very worn in case of a rim brake model)

    • is the inside clean (no debris on the rim bed, no old sealant, etc.)
    • is the rim tape ok? (no wrinkles, well centered)
    • try seat them with soapy water, "massage" them in place (it helps to identify which part doesn't sit right), then pump to max recommanded pressure.
