  • This is great news - well done lads!

  • Great win folks, well deserved. T

  • Nicely done chaps

  • Super cool, congrats!

  • genuine lol @Señor_Bear

    @hoops VERY nice rob! Congratulations!

  • Proper photo courtesey of @photoben.
Won an award from Enve too.

  • I think its basically an award for being a confirmed Buyer, although there were plenty of other bikes with a much higher Buyer status that recieved no such recognition. Voted for by the public though, so thats pretty cool.

  • Well done guys! That is one sexxxy bike.

  • Congratulations all. Sick bikes! Keep up the good work.

  • That's fantastic!

    Congratulations to all involved.

  • Fav forum bike >>>

  • aesthetically a bit too much going on with the seatpost design and the paint job for me but the component choises + the frame is really really nice.

  • OTT is totally his style.

  • OTT is my speciality.

  • Congrats, bike is great.

  • I thought the Paint complimented the frame perfectly. Bit more colour and pattern at the front, and plain around the seat tube area where the frame design is already interesting enough without the colour. Really gives it Balance.

  • Mk 4 currently in bound. Heading to the Loire Valley week after next. Really hoping to have it all back together in time to take with me.

After lots of traveling with this bike the paint was starting to look pretty tiered. So decided to paint it to look a bit knackered, so when it actually gets a bit knackered again it wont be so obvious. Also using it to test durability of new matte lacquer formula, as matte lacquer is notoriously bad at durability .

  • So the distressed denim of bike paint?

  • Took a while, but finally got this all tied up.

It actually fades from a super dark grey at the front to black at the rear, but it’s so subtle you only really notice it in person. I was a bit annoyed i didnt mix a slightly lighter grey fo a bit more contast to begin with, but the subtlety of the gradient is growing on me.

Stoked on the new 2.2 rims. Think they suit the build really well. Wish I’d gone for them instead of 3.4’s originally. yet to take it for a proper ride to see if they ride any different to 3.4 rims i had before though... i doubt they will feel noticebly different TBH. The weight difference is minimal.

Not 100% sold on the orange CK for this, but o can’t really be bothered to buy a new one TBH.

Black 9100 cranks would look pretty sick on it, but it was built with 9000 originally, and these ones still got plenty of life left, so that’s what it’s staying with.

  • Saying that, a few things have changed - I ride Fabric saddles these days, so switched the Fizik Kurve out for a Scoop Ultimate. Painted the underside of it to match for LOLZ.

Also switched bars out for Pro ones cos I get A better discount on Pro than Enve, and they are made for Full Hidden junction box jazz. Only Visible Di2 cable goes straight into the headtube now instead of the multi port it used to go in to on the NDS of the downtube.

  • Annual post spring clean update.

Hardly ridden this thing at all in the last 8 months, mostly due to the fact it’s been parked up on a plinth at work for display, but also cos I’m lazy and not been riding bikes that much, and also cos the 2.2 rims are just a little too wide for the direct mount calliper at the rear. The 2.2 rims are 28mm wide front and rear, whereas the 3.4 rims are 28 front, 25 rear, so never had a problem with rubbing on the old wheels.

Have been using the Enve wheels on my Look for a while now, and this has had some random old Hunt carbon chopper wheels on whilst on display. So got some DT Swiss PR1400 Oxic wheels for this so I could actually start riding it regularly again without constant wheel rub.... wanted a nice light shallow alloy rimmed wheel set that wasn’t too wide, and these guys fit the bill perfectly. Was also considering some Mavic R SYS Exalith jobbies, but that whole carbon spoke thing just seems like a headache waiting to happen... and also, Mavic.

I have never really been to fussed about weight on this bike, as it’s never gonna break any records in that department, and I’m too old and fat to really care these days, but comes in at 8kg on the dot as pictured, which ain’t bad at all for a steel bike with alloy wheels in my book.

I’m deffo not as flexible as I was when I had this built 6 years ago. 😂

Also just realised I somehow managed to accidentally close this thread to replies after my last post a year ago!

  • The Oxic wheels are nice.

Would be interested in how brake surface holds up.

  • fnugh, that's fantastic. amazing how well that bike's aged.

  • 6 years

    wow times flys

  • Apparently it holds up well. I’ll believe it when I see it.
If memory serves all it took was a nervous descent of the Col du Soulor in a heavy thunderstorm to completely remove the Exalith coating from a set of Mavic rims a few years back. The road was basically a river though, so I guess there’s not much that would have held up to that!
