• Unsure what to do with this one, so any advice welcomed.

Our dodgy, cro-magnon steroid-fuelled Dorito-man neighbour has this week sold two cars out on the street outside our flat, neither of which are taxed according to DVLA (can't tell if stolen or not, but given his previous, I wouldn't doubt it). The first was a family - with three small kids - who spent about 25 minutes with him, the wife going on a test ride with Dorito-man whilst the dad (who, it transpired, was "too fucked to drive") wrestled his kids into the car, repeatedly clearing his nostrils about 12" from their faces whilst shouting various obscenities at his tiny children. The partner returns 15 minutes later with Dorito-man, and they sit in the car for about 5 minutes whilst she hands over a massive pile of readies, and then he counts it. Then this morning he is at it again, two lads show up and they go over the car, checking the bodywork, Dorito-man hopping into the driver's seat to rev the engine. At no point during the 20 minute transaction are they more than a foot apart. Dorito-man is wearing black disposable gloves; what a champ.

Now, I am aware the cops probably have better things to do than indulge curtain-twitchers like me, but a few years back we had to prevent this guy from successfully knocking shit out of and strangling his girlfriend outside our flat - he was on some kind of steroid/coke rage and is absolutely fucking massive - by shouting at him and calling the cops. He took off whilst we consoled his girlfriend, who was reeking of booze but utterly traumatized, but she told us he had taken her passport, her cash cards and basically wouldn't let her leave. I recieved a court summons a few weeks later but the case was thrown out, depressingly due to lack of evidence or, I suspect, her dropping the charges. He disappeared for a few months but was back with a huge black Range Rover, minus the woman. We've also seen him quite clearly dealing drugs in the same street. We live on a side street off a main road, with prostitutes working one street over, so it ain't Knightsbridge, we know that.

What to do? We've been incredibly careful to self-isolate as much as possible for the last four weeks as I have an immune system issue, and we are lucky to have a balcony - where all the above can be viewed from a few floors up - but I worry that this bloke is just wilfully carrying on his nefarious business whilst other twats join him. He is, of course, well known to the cops as was clear when I was interviewed about the assault a wee while back.

  • neither of which are taxed according to DVLA

Don't have to be sold taxed, but they shouldn't have been parked on the road. If you report the cars now, it's the buyers who'd get done but that said, having had a bloke offer me 100 quid to send the details for a fake buyer of my car to the DVLA ("It's just a minicab, mate, the DVLA won't care"), maybe they're fully aware of what they're doing.

  • Good to know. I have no sympathy for the people buying these cars at all given their somewhat relaxed attitude towards social distancing. Buying a dodgy motor off a bloke in the street during a lockdown? Aye, carry on lads.
