it would indeed appear this thread is not for screwing anything else onto. I'll go for a 'rubber sleeve' and jubilee clip...and then get a hosepipe adapter
Watch out for a leak between the tap base and the movable swan neck/spout. The seal normally only has the pressure from a few inches of water in the spout to contain and you will end up with mains pressure when you turn off the hose.
A jet of water that's been spraying across the kitchen for an hour, is a nice surprise when your finished washing the car 😣
