just trying to catch up with Sweden, who are leading the way as usual.
definitely the Swedish mentality of being seen to be doing the right thing more right than everyone else as far as I remember it... I fear that they may have misjudged in this instance unless they genuinely do know something everyone else in the world doesn't.

Keep in mind our way of life is quite different from many other countries. In the bigger cities people share spaces a lot, but the bulk of swedes live in the country side where we have pretty limited contact with others. No restaurant culture to talk about, no pubs, not many concerts to see, etc etc.
I think we're pretty isolated to start off with. Normally it sucks, but pretty handy during a pandemic
I read an article where Sweden's Anders Tegnell, when asked why Sweden had a disproportionately higher death rate than its neighbours, answered that some countries were just ahead of others in the course of the epidemic.
Those backwards neighbours with their tiny death rates .... just trying to catch up with Sweden, who are leading the way as usual.
