I guess less thought about changing gear and more simplicity, but still a bit of range compared to ss. In terms of cost, with the Paul tensioner it's probably way more expensive than a 1x.
I would quite like to do it one day if I had a triple lying around. I liked my ss mtb but the problem was, riding on tarmac to the trails was incredibly spinny.
