  • 3x1? I mean it sure is different, but how is this better than a hub gear (sliding dropouts too for easy chain tensioning) or a standard 1x setup?

  • I guess less thought about changing gear and more simplicity, but still a bit of range compared to ss. In terms of cost, with the Paul tensioner it's probably way more expensive than a 1x.

    I would quite like to do it one day if I had a triple lying around. I liked my ss mtb but the problem was, riding on tarmac to the trails was incredibly spinny.

    Just checked the Flickr page, Blue Lug, now it all makes sense haha.

  • I thought about doing this too, as at first glance it looks like a cheap way to get a wide gear range. But most decent chain tensioners seem to be more expensive than a good rear mech.
