"Audiophile wireless" is an oxymoron.
Yeah, I'm reaching this conclusion. However there is (for me) a pay off between sound quality and convenience, and wireless is pretty convenient.
I am idly considering a wired headphone rig as well.

My HD1s have both options.

These B&Ws have the option to plug in as well.
I've used them with a portable player with flac files and it sounds better than Bluetooth.

You know if you were thinking of buying a 20 yo valve amp, made by a company that’s no longer trading and which was notoriously difficult to service, that would be silly, right? Like the “if you couldn’t afford to buy it new, you can’t afford to run it used” thing...

With all other things being equal, my streamer sounds better than my macbook
I don’t really follow how this is possible. Have you got some insane quality streamer or do they connect differently to the DAC? What DAC?

Go on then. What is it?

wireless is pretty convenient
You'd have thought it would be a no-brainer to include a microSD card slot in wireless headphones so you could take the radio out of the loop, but I can't find anything but crappy cheap ones with that facility.
Taken to silly audiophile extremes, a 512GB card would hold over 24 hours of 24 bit stereo 96kHz uncompressed PCM, which should be enough to be getting along with, or almost a week's worth of 16bit/44.1kHz with lsls cmprsn.

It’s the audio geek hot topic of the moment. There’s a whole lot been written about it elsewhere, it’s interference and clocking and “it’s not just ones and zeroes” etc. I tried my 3 different streaming transports back to back and there’s a significant difference to my ears.

It’s a Kora Jupiter power amp. I do actually need a new amp as I’ve nicked the kitchen one for work and it was almost in budget.

Leak?
-
• #7737
No it’s Kora, a french outfit who went out of business a few years ago. The name has been resurrected recently but it’s not the same business at all apparently.

Yes, that would make a lot of sense.

Same here as per wired vs wireless. I find the noise cancellation annoying at times, wonder if there's a way to turn it off while still wireless?
-
• #7740
These have the ability to turn off noise cancelling or choose between low and and high.
Around the house, I don't find much need for it. They are closed back so not much noise gets through in any case.
-
• #7741
Mine are not able to do that, but wired in they sound really nice.
I wanted on ear for the compactability and the fact that these fold as well is a nice bonus. -

Ha, posted before I'd seen that ^
Looks the biz, bet it'll sound lovely.

Do the streamers output to USB? Anyways, ditch the laptop (compromised signal path) and try a Mac mini with that Topping DAC

• #7744
Hope so, Im kind of depending on it working right as soon as it arrives, no reason to suspect it won't, it had new valves and sockets in 2014 but that's quite a long time in the life if a vacuum tube in regular use as far as I understand. I've just been reading about biasing and feel out of my depth. There's a guy in town who specialises in mending valve guitar amps so hopefully I have a chance with maintenance.

Yes, all USB. The streamer is raspberry pi with pimped power supply and output board. Allo USBridge Sig.
