It has been observed quite a lot that some of what is needed at the moment is 'socialist' in nature, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that Corbyn wouldn't have shied away from such measures in the way the Tories have been doing.

Of course Corbyn would't have shied away from socialist interventions. The fact (even) the Tories were forced to enact these measures possibly offers a better argument for their continuation post COVID.

I suspect that Johnson is being lined up as the toxic waste canister that the whole C19 handling topic can be dropped in before it's heaved over the side of the boat. As ever, the Tory party will focus on what is the most expeditious method of keeping power, and tying all the negative to Johnson (a retirement due to his health) allows Sunak to take over smoothly without the allowing Cheltenham side of things to taint him.
