  • What I am trying to say is comparing curves is redundant.

A lot of countries are sandbagging.

We are all following a similar pattern.

Germany deaths is suspect as fuck btw.

Now is not the time to finger point and say oh it could be so different!

    Under an alternative (similar) Govt.

  • Difference of opinion, I guess.
I say now is the time to hold government to account, point out their failures and try to get them to do better. Testing and PPE debacle is one area where they were held to account and hopefully things are getting better.

The other option is 'Rally round the flag' and 'Support our PM' regardless of their actions, which it seems a lot of people are doing.

  • Germany deaths is suspect as fuck btw.

    Why?

Could it maybe have something to do with the fact that they've tested almost four times as many people per million population, or almost five times as many people overall?

  • And yet the NHS staff treating him will do their best for him because they don't let their opinion of him inform whether he deserves to survive or not. Health professionals must meet thundering cunts every day, but they don't decide who lives or dies based on this.

I absolutely hate Johnson and what he and his cronies have done for this country, but I don't wish him actual ill health because I'd like to think I'm a bit above eye-for-an-eye vengeance.

Yes, yes, I am on my high horse.

Exactly what Kier Starmer stated as his view of his role. Highlight areas that the government could improve on while recognising things they are doing well. And not scoring political points

  • They have twice as many confirmed cases as UK and less then half the deaths.

I'm sorry but that is not possible.

Even if we had 3 times the quoted amount of cases.

    They should have more.

  • Their deathrate is approx 1.5% of positive tests, they're simply catching far more people with mild symptoms. People who aren't tested in the UK because they lack the capacity and only test those entering hospitals.

  • Just re-sharing a story posted earlier in this thread on the German situation.
    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/04/world/europe/germany-coronavirus-death-rate.html

There seems to be some logical explanations there... but up to you if you believe or not.

  • At the end of the day if you have more people you will have more deaths. (Sorry to be so grim)

  • I'm sorry but that is not possible.

You realise this pretty much exactly matches the disparity in tests performed, right?

    Of course it is possible.

  • Have you considered the thought that you can still have Corona without being tested?

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

  • At the end of the day if you have more people you will have more deaths. (Sorry to be so grim)

More test revealed more people having COVID-19, this is all.

  • Maybe she is just hoping Phil the Greek will shuffle off this mortal coil so she can get a new man.

  • Depends... if it creates a 'domino' effect.

  • Less that he's holding it together, more that with him there, it's not falling apart.

    Yet.

  • Ireland is testing many more people as well, so you can have a look at their death rate per a million people VS the UK as well, for comparison.

Of course, there are other factors. In cities it spreads easier, Italy/Spain have relatively more cases in older people which means more deaths, and Germany also does community follow ups and sends people earlier into hospital in some cities, so they won't be as ill.

In general though, 1000 people tested when the are already badly ill VS 1000 people tested when they are asking for a test is going to result in a higher relative death rate.

Exactly - I only mentioned the much higher rate of testing before, but you're right of course, even with the same number of tests it depends on who you're testing.

  • Heh :D

At her age, trying to find a new man of a similar age is a super challenge.

Maybe a younger golddigger works? ;)

  • Sends people in earlier so they wont be as ill? WTAF.

It is a Virus. With no current Vaccine.

    Jesus Christ.

  • Germany deaths is suspect as fuck btw.

Could you please expand on this?

Edit: sorry, wot others said. Especially the bit about the tree falling in the woods. Also tracing, 40,000 intensive care beds.

  • By the time you get antibiotics to cover a secondary bacterial infection your general health will already be in question.

    See Boris.

  • Check Luxembourg for an example of high levels of testing (just shy of 5% of the population), therefore high levels of cases but low deaths. Small sample size here of course but a good example that lots of testing finds lots of cases but not necessarily serious ones. A more valid approach might be mortality rates of people who are hospitalised.

The deaths and cases in ICU here are probably slightly overstated as we've had patients transferred from the Grand Est in France to help them out.

As in instead of asking people to stay at home and ride it out.
