Can someone please photoshop a face mask onto Tony the Tiger thank you

Maybe that's what happened to Carole Baskin?

Either he's wasting NHS resources* or he's really sick, which is it ?
Yeah this was my first thought. If you're an ordinary person the ambulance service won't take you to hospital unless you're dying, this is what happened to my colleague who had bad symptoms and was advised to call 999 by NHS 111.
So he's either jumping the queue and taking up resources that should be used for genuinely sick people, or it's not for tests.

I thought the male thing had been over stated, because the high levels of male smoking in china.
Correlation is not causation: we know that more men died in China, and more men in China smoke but...
Related thought: I can't think of any female celebs who've died of it yet off the top of my head.

He's probably considered a Key Worker, and as such his treatment is prioritised to get him back to work, in the same sense that frontline NHS staff are fast tracked for testing. Lots of people will be against his getting special treatment for obvious reasons, but if he succumbs, the alternative is Dominic Raab in charge. :(

He’s the Prime Minister - he has to work. He is a special case. He will be treated differently. Sorry if you do not like that.

• #9333
I mean what a catastrophe it would be for everyone - regardless of political persuasion and personal feelings for him - if the PM was incapacitated temporarily for a drawn out time, or permanently.
-
• #9334
Well, that's my utter bollocks quota for the day filled already.
-
• #9335
Glad to be of service.

• #9336
Catastrophe is a bit of a stretch. There's plenty of other feckless tory shitbags that can fill his shoes temporarily / permanently. The government is not one man.
-
• #9337
Disagree. The Tory party is a mess. There is no Brown to Boris’ Blair. This would not be an ideal time for a multi faction power struggle. Uncertainty on uncertainty on uncertainty.
Would be a great time to be paid in $ though.

Yeah I tend to agree.
That being said, I think it's pretty normal for country leaders to get the best available healthcare as they're considered key in that country's government / organisation. That's the same probably everywhere and I don't have a big issue with it.

There is literally only one person I’d wish this in at the moment and that’s Trump. He deserves it frankly.
The ideal outcome with Bojo is that he receives empathy and top quality treatment from a talented range of doctors, nurses and staff many of whom are in this country as a result of immigration and that he recognises the fucking obvious value of it all.
-
• #9340
I think Boris knows exactly the value of these people but it has (in the very recent past) been politically expedient to ignore that fact.
-
• #9341
If that’s what guides someone ultimately they aren’t completely in touch with the value of things I’d argue. It’s a very basic moral test... which he failed very very publicly indeed.

This is tempting but I've been trying to avoid wishing it on anyone. The world is full of arseholes, but the more people who get it, even those we hate or who are having a destructive effect, the more will die including those we care about. So even as a piss take, or directed at someone in another country, I don't think it helps to hope that anyone gets sick.

Apologies if we've been over this, anyone know what the deal is for people changing jobs? It's my last week in current role, and new jobs been pushed back to a likely June start date due to the virus. Current place not willing to keep me on, despite request from my boss / boss's boss that there are still lots of projects I can finish. Suck it up / enjoy a few months off? Or is there a scheme to support things like this? Thanks,

Are you suggesting that Boris is the one holding it together? Yikes.
I understand that it could give wind to a lot of tory infighting, thougj, which is good/bad.

If not so power hungry and stuck to his true beliefs, He could have won the referendum for Remain, it's such a shame.
-
• #9347
That's the thing with Boris, he is actually pretty intelligent and I'm pretty sure he e.g. knows exactly how important those bloody foreigners are for the NHS. He just chooses to ignore that in his quest for power.
I honestly don't know whether that's better or worse than the empty entitled airbag that Trump is.

He is where the various factions focus their power. And he has (some) legitimacy with some of the electorate. Again, sorry if you do not like that, I do not like it much either. If he was to go, precious time would be wasted as that power is realigned. It is not something we need right now.
All that before what it might say for our country's ability to function in this new world we find ourselves in, should it turn out that our PM both gets it and gets incapacitated by it despite all the resources thrown at him to make sure he pulls through.

Only a reference to Britons? Tsss who writes her speeches, especially as there are a fair few immigrants in the NHS. I don't think Queenie has anything against immigrants btw, and she just wants to cheer the country up, but it is just a bit sloppy.
I'll take this as a grant to throw a total wobbler on the floor then, as a furrin' I don't need to be strong ;)

Serious question though: is the current situation not one in which the civil service left to its own devices + some caretaker PM might actually be more quietly efficient than all the politicians on top? Are they really adding all that much at the moment?
Sure, at least in the UK they're maybe not openly obstructionist like in the US, but still...
