  • Down to the last two packs of eggs in Sydenham Saino, both of them quails eggs and I just bought one of them.

  • The weather really is a bit problematic right now.
Quite some self control to not just go out, buy beers (and start smoking again).
And I really take the whole thing quite seriously, imagine how it is for all the its only flu people.

Does London have fines for not doing social distancing by now?

  • Never thought that my major concern of the day(s) would be scheduling multiple Zoom calls each evening. Not just for us (as a family) but for my 10yo.

  • Please don't ever suggest burning old fence panels or wooden sheds.

Thank you for making these points so clearly and strongly. With more people at home, Wood stoves, barbeques and garden fires all over London are making people with underlying health conditions even more sick, and more vulnerable. I'm recovering from fume inhalation at work and really struggling with it.

  • Just want to point out that I burnt a fence panel last summer, don’t live in London and have no immediately adjacent neighbours...

  • I really only know of 'zinger' from the Big Bang Theory,
    and,
the recipient of a Sheldon zinger seldom looks happy or even comforted.
While I can be as sarcastic or ill-tempered as anyone,
I had hoped that my earnest request to jackbepablo was factual, informative,
and positive in offering an alternative (eventual) solution to the disposal of old fence panels and sheds. I realise this is now sounding a bit too earnest,
but having made a career out of selling (benign) chemicals
I try to do my bit to help people who will not know the continuing risks
    from previous standard practise.
The other obvious example is safely removing old gloss paint that
unbelievably used to contain lead acetate as a curing agent.

If we, all, get through this, drop over to Wests for a Thursday night drink.

  • Please don't tell me it was used to fire your forum-approved outdoor pizza oven?

  • No, but that’s mostly down to luck as I still haven’t built that

  • And thank you!
This one of the few areas of expertise or knowledge that I can share with the forum.
After tanalised timber we can them move onto (melamine-faced) mdf
    and
    (phenol-formaldehyde resin-bonded) plywood,
neither of which should be burnt by householders.

  • Melamine / Formica is really shit.
In a carcinogenic kind of way.

  • Never thought that my major concern of the day(s) would be scheduling multiple Zoom calls each evening.

    Is Zoom a Malware?

  • neither of which should be burnt by householders.

You know your stuff! Nothing should really be burned by householders, or anyone else. Air pollution kills more people than smoking cigarettes, and wood burning is in the top two causes along with transport emissions.

On a positive note: I got an unescessary furnace at an industrial estate where I work shut down as it was slowly killing workers. Also had a really positive response from local councillors where I live on stopping bonfires during the coronavirus crisis.

  • They also sent home the 15 boys who had broken into the 5 a side pitch for a match.

there are FIFTEEN active grupetto members ?

  • Is Zoom a Malware?

    No.

  • suppsedly brockwell park was rammed with picnicers and drinkers today, closed tomorrow even for exercise, why we cant have nice things

  • The social distancing guidelines have been delivered in such an ambiguous way that its easy for people to convince themselves that they are being reasonable.

I reckon we'll be on a similar lockdown as France in a few days.

  • If you look at the area brockwell park serves, there's not many green spaces that are easily accessed by people.

Add in perception of risk, the population most at risk, sunshine, and "experts", and people being inside most of the time.
It's not difficult to see why it happens.
    It's not easy.but still. It's a bit maddening.

  • Nothing should really be burned by householders, or anyone else.

What about a campfire to roast marshmallows over while singing songs with a youth group (scouts etc)?

  • What about a campfire to roast marshmallows over while singing songs with a youth group (scouts etc)?

Good point. Obviously it's fine to burn scouts, youth groups etc as long at the fire is contained.

  • I caught the end of an interview with a nurse on the radio earlier. She said that her colleagues were finding it disheartening to see people out and about for non essential reasons.

To paraphrase, "what fucking part of stay at home do people not understand?"

  • They clapped on Thursday though.

  • People watch Mrs brown's night in.

    It's maddening.

  • mespilus' knowledge of our industrial-chemical heritage is quite something. :)

  • Treated pine logs. Great for smoking your brisket with.
