Slightly less susceptible to melting, if your setup draws quite a few amps and esc and motor run hot then tamiya plugs can melt (the plastic bit).
Edit: and Deans have a larger contact surface area.
BITD I melted all varieties of Tamiya connector with pretty mild setups.
Suspect modern sensored stuff might mitigate against this?
