Self entitled middle class prick who I released the bike without talking payment cos 'I forgot my wallet and REALLY need the bike' popped in to make it right today, AFTER 3 WEEKS!
'£36 for a new tyre, tube and fitting? You're too expensive. How much is the labour? £15? How long is that for, 2 and a half hours? 2 hours?'
It's a new rear tire and tube for a child carrier trike with internal gear hub.
I replied, 'Our rate is £40/hour'.
'You are charging too much, that's why your shop is empty'
We're fully booked I replied.
Had he not came in with his little kid, I would have personally shown him out of the door and asked him not to return.
AND if you're on here, go do one...

The middle class ones are the worst. Especially for borrowing track pumps. Your bike cost 6grand why don’t you own a track pump?!!’
-
• #356
Jesus, what thick cunt.
It's a new rear tire and tube for a child carrier trike with internal gear hub.
Fucking cyclists!

EXACTLY!
C: How much are you pumps?
Me: £29.99
C: That's a lot.
C is decked in lycra, Oakley shades and a helmet which cost 4 times the price. Haven't even mentioned his bike...
Even better, people calling up asking for pumps. Yeah, £29.99.
You don't have the £4.99 ones? Halfords do.
Yeah, go on then, they're shut!
-
• #358
Indeed Jesus was a thick c... ;)
It's just the entitled view that 'It's too expensive'.
Working back on the '2 1/2 or 2 hours' blurb, this equates to a rate between £6 and £7.50, that's not even my hourly mates rate...

Comes with the territory man, more self entitled middle class pricks than ever around the way.

£36 for a tube, tyre and fitting is a bargain.
What a twat
-
• #361
Have you not had people buying bike parts off you then returning them (brand new unused) the week after?
I've seen it happening at my office when people need the parts immediately so they pop down a LBS. They fix their bikes then order the same parts online for 40% less, then return them to the LBS.
Naughty naughty!

£36 for a tyre, tube and fitting on an IGH bike sounds like a massive bargain. Should have charged him double for late payment/being a twat.
-
• #363
t's just the entitled view that 'It's too expensive'.
It’s the same view that “unskilled” worker don’t deserve an actual living wages.

I declined it as the code I wrote on the book does not match and clearly been tampered with.

• #365
Strangely not yet but I'm not surprised people actually do this.
-
• #366
I know RIGHT, class as they say is priceless... Could have also replied a bit more had the kid not been present.
Took his payment, walked into the workshop and shared what happened, we're happy if he never returns.
-
• #367
EXACTLY! Bet he voted Tory!
AND I'm sure he didn't even flinch when he spent 3k on the trike...
Oh ya, the tyre was FUBARed as the sidewall was cut up from being ridden when grossly under inflated, must be one of those with no pump at home...
-
• #368
I like rich people who doesn't flinch when I quote a service of £400ish, middle class people are the kind who can actually save money because they earn enough to do so, and end up being ridiculously tight with their money (whether working class people rarely have the capacity to save).
The middle class type are very much the worse of them all, they almost never tip too (working class do a lots, rich people, sometimes).
-
• #369
The lower middle class often just working class people blagging it.
They live in fear of appearing to drop back into workingclass-dom.
Hence the reluctance to pay for services (transfer of wealth) nor tip.
Then just waste the money playing golf, just so the neighbours see them putting a set of golf clubs in a 3 series BMW. -

WAC
I can only hope he comes back some day so you can tell him to do one.

Regarding this, has anyone got a copy of a good returns policy? After all, there is no obligation to accept a return or offer a refund unless the item is faulty right? Tried to write one up for the shop I work in but couldn’t get the wording right and wanted to make sure it was in line with rules and legislation etc. Basically, no returns unless we’re legally obliged to.

Sounds like a classic cunt. Well done for handling it without losing your shit! 💪🏻
Re pumps. Just buy in some cheap shit Old school zefal type pumps . Sell them for a tenner a pop (London price?) and let them have what they want. Better than no sale.... £30 for a PUMP?!?! Etc
-
• #373
We try to cater to demand as much as we could to a certain degree and offer a good balance between quality and price, £29.99 pumps selling pretty well and they're what we use in the workshop too hence why we stock them.
Put it this way, I've dealt with worse in my previous role as a banker (yep...) so this is nothing. Take the money, breath, share the experience with the team, move on... Repeat!

I get asked plenty for cheap "stuff", sometimes I take the effort to explain why a £1.79 pump from decathlon isn't going to get their track tubs to 150psi, and sometimes I just remind them that amazon/poundland/halfords exists and maybe they should buy their stuff from there.
Some folk will happily take the advice and up their game, others will rip the £25 valve extenders off their mavic 3g, desperately trying to save that last few quid so they can make this months payment on that merc amg but not an amg that they shouldn't have leased. -

Vanilla bikes in liquidation. I guess those low margin groupsets didnt make it stack up...
They have a big pile of stuff in store.
Bought a shirt the other day.
