its a massive wind up
Makes up for the 100 years of death-dealing shit from them we've dealt with.

How many police do you lot see on your rides? The only time I've had interactions with police was when I've had to detour car crashes. There's a few in London but in the sticks? Bugger all.

then you'll see me on my high horse.
It gets higher?
-
• #580
How many drivers had they stopped? Who is directing them to target cyclists?
-
• #581
Jesus is this still going on?
I was thinking about slinging my leg over a bike tomorrow, might not bother now
Cheers, son’s crying

I fear for the mental state of someone who worries that a cyclist quietly riding past the end of their drive will somehow infect them. Would they have the same fear from a car driving past?

Took my little girl out on the bike yesterday to stop us both climbing the walls. Went along a popular local cycle trail, when I checked strava later to see how many 'cyclists' had been on the route there were about 6 who'd strava'd it. One guy had done a 70 mile ride, which given the current advice is taking the piss quite frankly.

To be fair I have seen one this week, it was before 5AM and they were parked on the sea front in Lee-on-solent. They didn't stop me and ask how far I'd ridden.

Just anecdotal, from conversations with our community officers. May or may not be true.
-

I onow that strava have been working with authorities in Italy and Spain, maybe its soemthing they will bring in here.
Its a fucking shitshow.
-
• #587
Not sure why you are asking me. Community officers dont nornally do road policing anyway.
The traffic police were doing lots of random stops of cars in Beckton yesterday. Not sure if that was lockdown related.

I do feel bad that im coming across as sanctimonious here. I really dont intend to.
I just find it fascinating that the irrationality of authorities and the opinion of a tiny subset of society can have a fairly large policy impact. I guess its similar to the RLJ issue. A tiny minority of cyclists jump red lights but all cyclists are often tarred with the same brush unfairly. Amd ultimately RLJ rarely hurts anybody.

Just wondered, as you appear to have an insight into conversations that are happening with regards to policing at a national level, and I thought it may have come up in the specific conversation you alluded to with an officer yesterday.

Swisschap and stone hedge just need to wrestle it out. WWF style.

I don't have any insight into national policing. Just a close relationship with two different community policing teams in Lewisham and Greenwich dating back to when I worked for an addiction related charity.
I do have some insight into the decision making process for the Pandemic response and how information is fed up the chain to decision makers.

... Fight ... fight ... !
-
• #593
Easy to get around that one though. Don't use Strava?
-
• #594
Why are so many of you assuming that I disagree with you all?!
I thought me and Swisschap agree on almost everything about this.
-
• #595
Or Garmin. Of course.
The whole thing is full of holes.
-
• #596
Just anecdotal,
Interesting that this anecdotal interaction with a community officer that happened yesterday seams to support what you've been banging on about on here for over a week now.
-
• #597
Yup. So bored I'm sitting at home fabricating conversations.
-
• #598
Don't use Strava
Jesus whats the point of riding if it isn't on strava. I'm only half joking unfortunately.
-
• #599
I actually hate Strava but it's an incredibly useful and easy place to log your kms

More facts, less
I don't have any insight into national policing. Just a close relationship with two different community policing teams in Lewisham and Greenwich
Just "Don't do things that are not explicitly forbidden because you taps nose are in the know." Seriously?
You are posting completely unverifiable gossip. You are the Daily fucking Mail on this. With respect, Jog On.
Until they ban jogging. Then stop, obvs.
Is there any evidence that this is happening ? I've seen lots of tweets from police about people driving hundreds of miles to collect windows off ebay and people walking in the peak district and since then the police have been told to back off.
