I do feel bad that im coming across as sanctimonious here. I really dont intend to.
I just find it fascinating that the irrationality of authorities and the opinion of a tiny subset of society can have a fairly large policy impact. I guess its similar to the RLJ issue. A tiny minority of cyclists jump red lights but all cyclists are often tarred with the same brush unfairly. Amd ultimately RLJ rarely hurts anybody.
Ha ha, wait until recreational cycling has actually been restricted because of a small number of people deciding thst guidance isnt enough for them...then you'll see me on my high horse.
It has happened in other countries and will happen here too.
See also what is probably about to happen because people have started slacking off on the guidelines about unnecessary travel. Road traffic up nearly 20% this week and still rising. Police doing what they can but obviously limited so are feeding their concerns back to the government.
