16oz cotton canvas treated with 3 coats of wax. As far as I understand, it's not quite as heavyweight as a Carradice but I'm hoping it will hold up.

For those who are learning, this the only book you’ll ever need. (+metric pattern cutting if you want to do clothes).

I had my first ever go at sewing tonight.. with the current crisis upon us I'm not running kids about every evening so decided to order a metre of fabric and some bits and bobs.. I have a few bigtop saddle pouches so decided to copy them..

Tidy! That's some cracking work if it's your first time on a sewing machine

My second bag, the cordura is a little heavier which made it a little harder to work with but I’ve improved the strength of the stitches etc so it’s pretty strong

Second go at sewing tonight.. made a bar bag.. about 30cm long and 12cm dia.. sewing the ends were a pain and also not knowing I had ordered a waterproof zip and sewing it in inside out.. doh.. found the elastic in the garage which was handy.. webbing along the front has open sections to clip a light etc, rear has a tab and elastic for attaching to the steerer.. haven't fitted it yet.

That looks great. How does it fare with the head tube strap being up near the handle bars?

Looks spot on. I like how you can still access it while using a head unit.

Thanks, do be fair I just sort of had a bash at it.. I looked online and saw some pics of the seesense bar bag, so copied that.. Now onto feed bags :-)

I'm sewing up a round bottomed bag. So far done the side, so an open tube in effect. If I lay this flat then it measures 14inches across giving me a circumference of 28 inches.
Say I want a seam of half an inch all round, then is the circumference of my bottom circle going to be 29 inches? Right? Surely.
What material is that? Looks kinda furry
