• Well its all systems go 3d printing face masks for medics!

The fucking state of the situation. NHS trusts are actually placing orders for PPE that has been made in bedrooms in non sterile conditions using non sterile materials. I'm fucking angry that it is necessary but proud to be helping and also quite pleased to have something to distract myself with.

I'll be able to knock out about 15 full face visors a day with a fair wind. Doesn't seem like much but that'll be full face protection for 15 medics for one whole day so it will make a difference I suppose.

I really can't believe that the shortage is so bad that the NHS need this.

  • So what happen to the story from last week that there was loads of PPE, it was just a logistics problem getting where it needed to be, just another fucking lie from those Tory cunts ?

  • This is the BBC's write up of what Matt Hancock said today, it seems to be a distribution problem rather than shortage as such. Still.

Mr Hancock is asked about personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline workers.

He says the UK is "prepared" and has stocks but reiterates that the challenge has been the distribution.

The health secretary says it is a "constant effort" and ministers were "working night and day" to overcome the problems.

And he stresses the scale, stating that the PPE needs to get to millions of frontline workers in the NHS, social care and other sectors, including the police.

  • I honestly have no idea.

All I know is that at least some NHS trusts have so little that they are resorting to shit like this. I know for a fact that trusts are requesting masks from this project. One doctor ordered 600 decathlon diving masks to adapt into respirators ffs.

I sincerely hope that what I make end up not being needed and going into a bin, but if they do turn out to be needed then they will be better than nothing.
