Anyone know of any NHS workers who need transport happy to donate my brompton indefinetily?
Do we have a thread?

Yeah my first reaction was that there was something else terrible breaking. But it was just the weather lol.

That’s just the attitude that allows us to collectively shrug off the 40,000 plus premature deaths from air pollution a year.
But we don’t even bother to shut down half the economy and bankrupt the country for that.

I never heard that before. Probably unlikely as the trains are probably built the cheapest way possible.

There have been some really young deaths, some middle aged deaths.
What needs to happen is a look at the deaths and deprivation.
But I think this is key:
From the guardianThe new figures also reveal the age groups of those who have died to date. More than half of the patients (52%) who have died with coronavirus were over 80 years of age. Most of the other deaths (40%) were among patients aged between 60 and 79. A further 7% of deaths occurred in those aged between 40 and 59.
Less than 1% of the victims were under 40. The figures show three deaths in the under-20 category, and a further 22 victims aged between 20 and 39. A 13-year-old boy who died at King’s College hospital is believed to be the youngest victim so far.lines starting with a 'greater than' denote quoted text

Well its all systems go 3d printing face masks for medics!
The fucking state of the situation. NHS trusts are actually placing orders for PPE that has been made in bedrooms in non sterile conditions using non sterile materials. I'm fucking angry that it is necessary but proud to be helping and also quite pleased to have something to distract myself with.
I'll be able to knock out about 15 full face visors a day with a fair wind. Doesn't seem like much but that'll be full face protection for 15 medics for one whole day so it will make a difference I suppose.
I really can't believe that the shortage is so bad that the NHS need this.

Of course. Having Liverpool Vs atletico a couple of weeks ago was a good idea.

...Cheltenham doesn't seem to have been a wise move either. Jockey Club doing their best to blame everybody else.

So what happen to the story from last week that there was loads of PPE, it was just a logistics problem getting where it needed to be, just another fucking lie from those Tory cunts ?
-
• #8988
Yeah. Madnrss
-
• #8989
Loads of PPE, it's just in a powdered plastic form right now

I don't understand the bottom left hand corner; "sum of expected deaths". Very odd term.
EDIT: Got it now. Shouldn't that be something like 'sum of Covid related deaths plus seasonal average'.

This is the BBC's write up of what Matt Hancock said today, it seems to be a distribution problem rather than shortage as such. Still.
Mr Hancock is asked about personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline workers.
He says the UK is "prepared" and has stocks but reiterates that the challenge has been the distribution.
The health secretary says it is a "constant effort" and ministers were "working night and day" to overcome the problems.
And he stresses the scale, stating that the PPE needs to get to millions of frontline workers in the NHS, social care and other sectors, including the police.

I honestly have no idea.
All I know is that at least some NHS trusts have so little that they are resorting to shit like this. I know for a fact that trusts are requesting masks from this project. One doctor ordered 600 decathlon diving masks to adapt into respirators ffs.
I sincerely hope that what I make end up not being needed and going into a bin, but if they do turn out to be needed then they will be better than nothing.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm guessing if Tube trains ever had this feature
it was designed out. -

It’s not distribution; NHSI sent a clarification email out earlier this week explaining exactly how to complete bank transfer requests to Chinese bank accounts to pay for COVID-19 supplies as so many were being completed incorrectly as no-one has ever ordered from China direct before.

My sister is a clinical biologist for the NHS, she about as front line as it gets in terms of the current testing debacle.
I mentioned the NHS clapping on my street this evening. Her words were, “tell those fucks to stop voting Tory if that really want to help the NHS” I live in Tory safe seat.

The pandemic stocks were also built assuming it would be flu based so no gowns included.
There are warehouses full of Tamiflu shots.

I have a spare bike I want to give / loan to any essential worker to save money / time / keep them safe and away from crowded transport.
Anyone seen somewhere this is happening? Worth starting a thread on here?

There are warehouses full of Tamiflu shots.
Is that a legacy of the Swine flu panic a few years ago?
-
• #8999
Timely reminder that the Swine Flu "panic" killed anything up to half a million people.
Merseyrail had uv lamps in the toilets for many years but that was also to discourage drug use.
