  • A close friend's dad has it, is in palliative care, and is expected to die in the next few days. He's 90 and has had bad dementia for a while, but it's still a rotten way of going out. Her mum is suffering terribly because she's only been able to see him briefly, in full PPE, for an hour, in the last week. As so many report, not being able to be there is one of the worst things about it.

  • I've a friend from Northern Italy with elderly parents+family out there and each time I call I've tried to mentally prepare myself for news that someone close is passing and they can't fly out for funerals or do anything to see them again. So so many people must be in this positon.
