I haven't gone to Barking for years, but I ended up on King Alfred Way once. I'll see if I can find it.
If you have a look on a map, you go down that alleyway, cross Romford Road, and then follow Grantham Rd. do a left down Gainsborough, left at the end, under the railway, then Stevenage Rd, Southend Road, Northfield, Wall End Rd. straight on to the bottom of Park Ave, left up Flanders, then onto the footpath. left at the end, then follow that to King Alfred way. Hopefully that makes sense!
Here's a GPX I just created. Back up through Barking, west of Ilford, then back over the A406. I might do this on Sunday morning, it's been years since I went that way

That's the route I run but I've never gone right towards barking, I normally go flats, roding valley, up round hollow ponds and back. Can i nick a strava route from you?
