I’ve killed my turbo :(
-
• #2878
By putting a billion watts through it?
If it's any consolation, I broke the resistance adjuster on mine yesterday so it's stuck at maximum

I was going to ask this

Is it still impossible to buy a turbo? They’re the new lavatory paper.

No it’s not.
EDIT - yes it is! (Tired brain can’t read)
Fortunately I’ve sourced a replacement resistance unit, so hopefully it won’t take too long to get here.

Spare turbos ftw
-
• #2883
One needs a spare if your primary turbo is made by Wahoo.

I've also killed a Magura and a Computrainer but give me any others and I'm sure I'll last longer than they will.

It's that extra corrosive sweat of yours that does it

I watched Alien Covenant last night. Pretty much that.

A friend has bought a peloton bike and asked for advice on setting up. I couldn’t believe there is no way to adjust the reach.

It looks like it was a patch I applied that had come undone or something? IDK. Stupid thing.
-
• #2891
Proper patch or 'fast' patch? If former, did you apply glue to tube, not patch? Did you let the glue go off before sticking? If later, there's your answer. :)
-
• #2892
It was a proper patch, I applied glue to the tube and let it go off before sticking but I'm not a patch technician I just ride bike.
Actually there's a 'fast' patch on that same tube which is doing fine and has been there longer. A lezyne one I think.

How do I fix an rssi information error on Android zwift?
-
• #2895
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Received_signal_strength_indication
As a guess, move phone closer? Remove other sources of wifi to reduce interference?
If you're using 2.4GHz band on your router try 5GHz or try changing to another channel with less use.Or email Zwift support.

Take it to a bike shop.

I put new batteries in the powertap, it connected fine through the dongle and the mac book. So lucky me....
The bluetooth end cap for the powertap won't arrive for 6-8 weeks, which stops me from bluetoothing to an ipad mini I was hoping to use.
I might have another look at trying to get the android to work.

Very basic question, when setting up how strongly should one aim to have the roller contacting the tyre? Is this just a noise, tyre wear, tyre slippage trade off?
-
• #2899
Depends on the trainer. Smart ones have calibration apps so you won’t be over or under reporting power, dumb ones you just don’t want the tyre slipping.

Dumb one, but happy to have bought on a whim several years ago, keeping me sane having never been used until covid kicked off. Was getting some.slippage after changing tyres so will work out how to have it pushing more firmly.
Yes.
