Toby Young rolled his trousers up and paddled on Eugenics Beach yesterday. And racing drivers have a history:

(His Doctorate is in Law, he's not an MD)
To be fair, you wouldn't really want this advice from an MD either (although they certainly would be much more qualified than a lawyer to give it). You'd want it from someone with a research doctorate (i.e. PhD) in medicine or some other related field.

Toby Young wishes he were Julie Burchill and Steve Hilton, says it all

True! But I'd expect an MD know the limits of what they should be advising in this area!

So his girlfriend was already ill and he didn't want to leave her alone, I read.
Still hope he locked himself in for weeks as they should have...that's not clear.
If he went out / there already is a shortage of beds in that area then he's been very irresponsible.

From my experience of working with German people a large number of them seem to be Dr Something.

It does say:
Auf die Frage, ob er nicht ein schlechtes Vorbild sei, weil man sich ja zurzeit möglichst nicht anstecken soll, sagte er, er sei ja 14 Tage in Quarantäne geblieben.
Sounds like he did stay at home, at least.

Like the time our friend hit the button when the stewardess asked if there was a doctor on the flight... 😂😂😂

Danke, missed that.
Still bad form if there is a shortage of beds, don't want to be doing the "immunity experiment" (we don't even know if you can get immunity...) in that case.
See also older people still going out with a "if I die, I die" attitude, sure, but you still will get taken into hospital...

Oh yeah, for sure. Also, he might still be infectious well after he thinks it's all done and dusted, just staying at home for 2 weeks while he's fighting it off might not do it.

Aside from the extra responsibility he has because of his job, he risked becoming another emergency patient clogging up a stressed health system. It was a childish and selfish action.

No lockdown on racist cunts then.

• #60118
Fair enough, I agree don't do that if hospitals are already struggling.
The "herd immunity" idea here went down like a lead balloon luckily.

Imagine being Neil Russell. Then imagine lying awake at night worrying about people who have nothing to do with you because they are brown and can't be trusted (unlike all the pink faced people still congregating at the church hall for cake day or the golf club bar for the Ladies Four Ball Trophy fundraiser). Then imagine taking those racist thoughts to the cops because you can't keep your shit together... then imagine doing that on a public forum for all to see. Holy fuck! Imagine being Neil Russell!

So in Switzerland they've reached a partial decision on the topic of schools: the school year will count as a full year without extra time to be made up, or extra teaching in summer, with teaching being continued online etc. as far as possible. They haven't quite made up their minds yet with regards to what the final grades will be based on though. It seems the priority is to start the next school year as 'normally' as possible without carrying over anything from this one.
Any news on how they'll handle it here, especially with regards to grades that are relevant for university applications?

So it is!
I think he's a doctor in crushing dreams. In the long time I've been aware of him, any headline starting "Dr. Marko says... " is usually someone in their teens or early 20s having their vision of a future in motorsport smashed to bits with little/no chance of getting it back.
