Ah thanks mate, appreciated. Yup one of them could work for now. Takes weeks for the forks to come through so have some hunting time.. Currently stripped most of the bike bar the gearing which is running smoothly. The rest has been pulled apart and cleaned. Then it's time to sit back and watch the soda work. New cables ordered for brakes. First (and last before the rebuild) ride was actually awesome considering the age of the parts, really chuffed with this. May actually consider selling my Allez Elite this one is so nice.. T

@andyp Haha, it's going to take a bit of time to build up.. And will be done so with transient components until I dial it in right..
@geckoner beautiful. What's the frame? Violet is defintely the best colour choice since they discontinues pink.. Do you have any violet spacers spare by any chance? Just wondering ;)
Cheers. T -

I have to admit that if I have a moots it's a bit your fault! Mine is a "simple" Routt (not 45, not RSL) from 2017.
I'm stuck here for now so a bit frustrating (saddle should be a Berthoud)

Sur, for the spacers, I will check what I have left and let you know asap. -

Ah mate that's great. Routt's were always the frames I had and I love the older ones too, even though I get they're not that old. Think you landed a good one there as they only made the Routt with thru-axles for a year or two so relatively rare. All previous ones were QR then after a short period of thru they stopped making them for some reason. Shame as they were awesome. And I'm sorry if I were the cause of you having ot buy one ;)
So mines coming together slowly.
Sorting out the fit with cheap components and then will get some nicer parts. Gruppo for now is mechanical Ultegra 8020, will most likely be upgraded to Etap 12spd in a year or so. Trying it out with 170mm cranks, will see what happens.
I deliberately bought the frameset 10-15mm smaller than I would ride with a 100mm stem to account for later age stiffening and useless joints so will be running a 110/120mm stem at this point. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.
Awaiting disc brake lockrings and shorter cranks. Will probably have a set of brand new (only fitted) Ultegra 8020 175mm for sale soon if anyone is interested.
Oh and thinking of a set of new Enve Di2 Compact bars in 42cm. If anyone has a set for sale here then hat'd be nicer otherwise I'll go new..
Bar that dissolving the alloy seattube in the Allez is posing to be a mare. Only thing I'm thankful for is a second bathroom with a proper bath to stop it blowing out and covering everything! Almost there mind..
Oh and no rush with the spacers, all very much appreciated. T -

Ty! Appreciated

Updates..
Managed to dissolve the seatpost out of the Allez. Nearly burned the bathroom down but it worked. Reamed the seattube and all good.
Completely stripped and rebuilt the brake callipers and levers. Whilst not used much they were properly gunged and stuck. Now they're moving beautifully and have new Jagwire cables for them so should be a treat. Just awaiting forks, HS and need to find a 1" threadless stem. Think it'll be an excellent beater, looks and sits spot on. More coming on that.. T -

And next... The Moots...
Got some time today to tinker.
Here are some choice (and weight-weenie) minor upgrades.
Carbonice front derailleur clamp and seatpost collar. They're not making these anymore and stupidly I sold the old ones so were a bitch to find.
Extralite thru-axles and steerer bung and topcap. Off the old Moots
Alien U.S.E. carbon 10m setback seatpost with carbon rail specific clamps. Will see if this works out or not. If I need a post with more setback then I'll get a Moots carbon specific layback one.
Managed to find actual NOS Shimano disc lockrings not from the Middle East and not for a mad price. All installed..

So. To the build.
Steerer cut down but will obviously need more.
Needs a 160mm spacer for the front calliper, hopefully should find something tonight.
Realised the Ultegra chainring bolts are Torx and large ones at that, either need a quick B&Q journey tomorrow to swap chainrings out or get some on order. Essential shopping, right?
Stem and bars are very temporary until it's all measured out. Most likely 42cm Enve Di2 Compacts and Extralite stem once I figure out the length.
Bits I'm dreading are setting up the gears (less) and bleeding the brakes (massively). Got the right kit so will see how it works...
Some very temporary photos for now. Weighs 7kg as is.. T

I thought the new Routt RSL came with the brushed graphics these days? Was this from an older batch? Lovely though.

Cheers folks.
You can specify what finish you'd like. If you opt for stickers it's £150 odd less so that makes the CK BB free ;) I can always have it refinished at some point, I wasn't that worried about the blasted finish. And wouldn't pay £400 for the anodised finish, that's just a bit too OTT. Currently sits and feels like the Gangsta, not too bad! T -
• #522
This is coming up nicely...
Have you though about going for dura ace rotors as is has that black base finish?
-
• #523
Thanks man, just awaiting a Torx set so I can swap some Ultegra chainrings around..
The long term goal is either DA Di2 or SRAM Etap so yes, they will be black :) At some point.. -
• #524
Random but did you manage to come across any spare njs campag chainrings by any chance? ideally in 50t
-
• #525
Hey,
Hmm I may have some spares but all chainrings are in the lockup. Will have a look for you once I'm down that way. Cheers and hope you're well, your lopro is looking amazing btw! T
Cheers man, have something about it that's real nice.
It's these ones here. If they look kack then not the biggest loss.. Stem depends what comes along. Really not a fan of chunky 1 1/8" stems with shims so going to be a hunt for somehting vintage.. T
