  • Can anyone suggest a noob 3d drawing app for PC that isn't too intensive?

It's only going to be used to make simple drawings for my reference - like say a shed or a work bench. Basically where my diagram drawing skills have reached their limit or require too many bits of paper.

    Cheers

Get Fusion360, never look back. Obviously, it has way more power than you need, but it's also really easy to sketch on, and being parametric means changing your mind doesn't make a lot of extra work.

  • Thanks.

For ref PC in question is one of these: https://www.johnlewis.com/lenovo-ideapad-500-laptop-intel-core-i5-12gb-ram-2tb-15-6-full-hd/p2459655

    • 12GB ram (why?)
    • i5 6th gen
    • AMD MESO XT DDR3L graphics card

I did try sketchup just because I'd heard of it, but it wouldn't load so gave up.

  • I did try sketchup

So did I, back in the olden days. I find F360 orders of magnitude easier to drive.

  • Thanks again for the suggestion.

Just having a play with it, and clearly need to do a tutorial. But it looks exactly like what I was after.

  • Currently looking at upgrading Tektro R559 brakes for Paul Racer, but I am trying to find a clear answer on the reach aspect which is difficult.
R559 are said to guarantee a reach of 55 to 73mm, I assume it is the usual measurement from center bolt to brake pads vertically
Paul Racer are said to guarantee a reach of 57 to 73mm, but diagonally measured from center bolt to brake pads diagonally.
Are they the only bike company that use this method and if so why the fuck do they do that?
And how do I know if it can mount on my frame/wheels?
As it is a conversion from 700 to 650B and thus I am not at the limit of R559 reach but quite far still so I am not sure the Racer will fit, and I find it difficult to measure. Anyone would have any info on that?
EDIT: and if anyone has tried both, is the Racer worth it in terms of breaking performance? I already have koolstop pads on the R559

  • If you want certainty msg Paul directly, they'll know for sure.

Whether they're worth $350 for a set is something only you can decide. At that price it's unlikely that anyone who owns them will admit that they are equal to, or inferior to the Tektros.

  • That's a good idea to ask Paul directly, don't know why I did not think about that.

And that's a fair comment about the unlikeliness of admitting they're not that good considering the price. I guess I'll stick to the tektros and place the money elsewhere haha

  • I’m hosting an online quiz tonight. Yes I am bored of them.

Anybody got a good suggestion for a round that works over video conferencing? I’ve already got a music, video and picture round.

  • Interpretive dance

  • Dancing round the world. Contestants have to dance a country and the others guess it.

  • Give them a prompt to make a sculpture out of tinfoil or something else that everyone is likely to have in the house. Rank the entries - if a normal round is 10 points, then winner gets five, second gets four, everyone else gets three. Tell them in advance that the judging will be subjective (and get a guest judge for that round if you can!).

  • what's the best product for removing silver logos from black anodised hubs without damaging the anodising (reynolds DT swiss and a planet x bitex if that makes a difference)?

  • Acetone will remove painted logos without damaging anodising.

  • I don't think they're painted on?

  • You've got two chances with acetone....

  • They're probably laser etched? So you'd have to try either re-anodising or something like this?

  • Anybody know where I can get some basic bicycle hanging hooks in SW London today?

    Something like this?

  • There's a cluster of bike shops around Battersea/Wandsworth Bridge: Flag bikes, Cycle Republic and Halfords, which I assume are still open, but I'd check first.

  • Paint or black self-adhesive plastic.

From experience, even oil-based paint marker will come off with a few washes with detergent, and will be difficult to reapply to a hub built into a wheel.

  • Pickomino
How the fuck do you playt this game?

  • My friend's sold one of her artworks via the Saatchi Art site. They insist she packs it in a wooden crate for dispatch in a couple of days.

Where could we try that might have a wooden packing crate during the semi-lockdown situation we're in?

  • don't try contantine. it'll probably cost you an arm and a leg

    http://www.abrahamscases.co.uk/ or https://www.williamsandhill.com/

abrahams casing would be my first go to (they supply most of the london based art shippers with cases)
