I've got an AMD A10-7850k with 8GB of RAM 120GB SSD and 2TB HDD that I'd be happy to part with for much less than that if it was suitable. Also have a 3Gb Nvidia GTX 1060 and an AMD RX 570 if they need more graphics power than the integrated can provide.

If they are in/near Streatham I'm in some covid19 tech help whatsapp could help them out I think.

Cheers everyone, I will pass on the message. He is in East London I think. I think the key thing he wants is something that will actually turn up and be realiable... I will check.

I think he wants a laptop so he can lock his kid in a cupboard when he is working... :-D
J0king, but I think he wants a laptop.

Boring: what are the best mouse mats these days? 20 years ago we go those low-friction tiny pyramid designs. I'm using a Kensington wrist support version of one now but it's kinda flagging and I wondered if anything new is hot shit nowadays with all the e-sport nerds?
I want, flatter, larger surface area and less friction. Wrist support gel thing optional.

Their hard mats are great. I have an older one without lights, it's the mat that is awesome... the lights I can do without.

I have a Razor mouse. I guess I should've thought of that. Is it possible to turn all the lights off (unplug it I guess)? Why the hell would you even power a mousemat (other than douchebag lights)?

I'm using one of these
https://en.roccat.org/Mousepads/Taito-2017As VB said gaming mouse mats are the best, especially if you want one that covers more area. The Roccat ones were the simplest design wise I could find and it works well.

This is what you want: https://www.razer.com/gb-en/gaming-mouse-mats/razer-vespula-v2

One of these maybe: https://www.razer.com/gb-en/gaming-mouse-mats/razer-vespula-v2
I assume dual-surface means you can detach the wrist pad and flip it over?
-
• #6012
Check photos at the bottom. You flip the top layer.
-
• #6013
The mat surface is a hard surface in a metal tray with the wrist support around it.
You flip the mat within the tray to obtain different resolutions for your mouse to pick up on... or just when one side gets dirty and you want the cleaner side before you throw it in the dishwasher.

Small thing, but I got some eneloop batteries for my Perfomance MX mouse, went from charging every other day to once a month

I can really recommend going big, like this:

"spill" resistant

Not sure I see the point in that much coverage. I don't move my mouse over my KB for example.
-
• #6019
I've had one for years, just means no matter which weird angle you sit at the mouse always has mat, also I find the small amount of extra padding on my arms and wrists nice
-
• #6020
I guess. I've got a kb wrist rest and wired stuff so it's possibly less useful for my setup. Although, when I wear the mouse bit out it would mean I could rotate it for double life.

On a different approach I have a slightly cushioned leather thing from ikea which works really well, https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/rissla-desk-pad-black-40246156/

I pre ordered a web cam from Scan as obvs nothing in stock. I assumed they'd charge me on dispatch but I see that they have taken payment straight away. Is that normal?
-
• #6023
Probably normal for Scan.
-
• #6024
Totally agree with Spotter. Huge mat is great.
-
• #6025
Pre ordering implies paying up front so id say that was as expected.
just search for SFF on eBay
for example
