  • Hey there,
so I'm thinking about upgrading my "homestudio" setup to actually be able to record something.

I'm using Reaper and am quite comfortable with that as a DAW but am lacking in the interface and monitor department.

Because I'm a cheapskate and not at all professional I'm thinking about buying a focusrite 2i2 and a swissonic MM-3 Monitor set. Any experiences with these or recommendations around the same pricepoint?

I'm mainly planning on using this for podcast recording, the odd 2-person podcast or so, and instrument shenanigans.

    Thanks!

  • swissonic MM-3

I've got some Personus Eris E3.5, which are similar in size, and price, and get good reviews. I like them a lot, but, yes, you'll need headphone as well as any 3.5, or similar, speaker won't let you hear any bass (on the Eris I think the low is 80)

  • @Dramatic_Hammer I've got a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO as my go-to headphones, so I think I'm okay there.

I'm not expecting any wonders from 3.5" speakers, but maybe a bit better sound than my recent 30 quid cheapo 2.1 speakers tbh. Also these are 3,5mm jack (male) only, so proper shite to connect to an audio interface.

The interface is "good enough" then? Reviews I can find are all fine.

I'll do some reading up on monitors.

    Thanks!
