  • Router (a Fritz box) has the WiFi turned off, connected via Ethernet cable to the AirPort Extreme. I configured the Extreme first as a base station, then the Express as an extension of the network created by the base station.

But, when the extreme/express are both operational I lose internet access - turn the express off and the internet comes back.

I had the same thing at ours when I hooked my time capsule up the first time. No idea why it happened, and it seems to have solved itself now

I fiddled with it again, Fritzbox router in the cupboard in the utility room at the end of the hall, with an Express plugged into it via Ethernet cable, then the Extreme in the sitting room (where the red icon is), connected over power line ethernet to the router, both Express and Extreme supporting a single wireless network.

Running a speed test in the living room (Extreme) I get a stable 16Mbps, running the same test in the utility room (Express) I get a stable 4Mbps. Fuck knows.
