  • Whilst I admire this, I really appreciate the riders who win big races through craft and guile, not because they are super strong.

    My particular favourite example of this over the past ten years is Simon Gerrans. He was definitely not the best climber or the best sprinter or so strong he could drop everyone else, but if he was in a position to win at the end of a major race, his strike record was amazing. He retired with stage wins in all the major Tours, plus two monuments.

  • Guile is nothing without the legs and vice versa. Gerrans was stronger than everyone but Cancellara up the Poggio, no?

    I get your point though.

    If you put Gerrans’ brain in Sagan’s head etc etc...
