Couldnt pass up one of these in 42 for a tenner. Should hopefully be knobbly enough for some Spring badger rides:

Two for 40 applies only to some sizes, I have checked those tyres lately and the only size that this discount applies to is 700x50 wire bead, which is actually 1 for 60 (!) or 2 for 40.

I am going to bin a pair of WTB horizons in gumwall, if anyone needs them, lemme know, collection from SE6
-
• #2433
But why are you binning them?
-
• #2434
they are dead, they will still mount and inflate but I cant risk riding them anymore. If anyone wants for checking clearances or something, take em

Anyone riding 650b on Mason Resolution 1? Suggestions of max tyre size would be appreciated.

Looking at shifting an as new/very very low mileage pair of 650B 47mm WTB Byway, anyone interested?
-
• #2437
I have some 42mm tyres you can have for checking clearance.
-
• #2438
Does anyone around N16 have some SS/fixed 650 wheels, preferably with 47s on that I could try in a frame for clearance?

i have a set of g-one speed 50mm tires on a norco search xr and i find the handling in sharp corners to be a bit weird. i've ridden maybe 2k miles on this setup now and in sharp corners i feel like the bike dives? at a certain point in the corner the bike seems to start to turn much more quickly. i had a minor crash today for this reason and have had more than a few near misses. doesn't seem to happen with any size 700c wheel i've run on this bike. any ideas what is going on here? i've tried varying pressure and am not sure whether that affects this or not.

• #2441
To much pneumatic trail, or not enough? Have you tried varying the tyre pressure?
-
• #2442
yea from about 25-35psi (this on a 30mm outer, 25mm inner rim). it does mute it somewhat but at 25psi in hard cornering the tire definitely does start to collapse a bit. if this is it i think it is pretty frustrating. no such problems with 25-45mm 700c tires
-
• #2443
Those are pretty thin walled tyres though aren't they? My first reaction is it sounds like wheel flop from too long a fork, but maybe not if it's fine with other tyres.
-
• #2444
yea reasonably. not like they are compass though. i haven't had this problem with any 700c wheel/tires but aside from briefly using a schwalbe thunder burt 2.1" i haven't tried anything else in 650b. i didn't ride the burts long enough or aggressively enough on pavement to notice.
having read some more about wheel flop that does sound like what this feels like. strange though that it isn't a problem with the other wheel/tires. seems like flop is around 20mm which seems reasonable?

It could be that the smaller 650b is resulting is less trail accentuating the flop. I'm not fully clued up on how one affects the other though. I have a touch too much flop on my conversion, it self steers a bit too much on sharp corners, but that's because the fork is a bit too long for the frame and the headangle is already slightly slack. It equates to a decent ride as long as you're used to it and don't suddenly slam it in to corners.
I guess trail (more=more straight line stability) balances flop (more= more power steering effect) and we're both a bit too far in to the flop direction. This can be a desirable effect but it sounds like it's a bit too much on your bike for the style of riding you're doing, as I say I'm no expert and I'm not even sure how pneumatic trail plays in to this (or whether it is even real!).

Was someone on this thread looking for 650B 36h alloy rims with braking surface?
I am selling this bike which has 650B Rodi rims, 20mm internal, 36h.
RODI AL 6063 T6 ETRTO 584x20 DIN
Hardly any wear on the brake track, they would polish up very nicely.
Yours for £75 for the pair, free bike included
