for me that is easy. Roy Curvers. recently retired and newly DS at Team Sunweb. Total rider is completely unsung.
That 2011 Halle-Ingooigem win will never be forgotten.

I’ve particularly enjoyed watching the handful of riders who’ve been able to take total control of races through being on another level:
- Cancellara crushing everyone with his Swiss mullet blowing in the wind
- Sagan. Even though he’s not won as much as people thought he would, his Paris Roubaix win was sheer beauty
- Alaphilippe for all of his panache and incredible descending
- Froome has taken grand tour riding to another level and I’ll never forget the mad raid in the Giro but obviously there’s the Sky/salbutamol asterisks
- Obviously it’s a bit soon to be adding MVDP to this list but on last year alone, he warrants inclusion
- Cancellara crushing everyone with his Swiss mullet blowing in the wind

Thomas de Gendt. Who doesn't love a breakaway? If you love breakaways, you've got to love TdG.

Nibali for me as well for the same reasons. Also Tony Martin; particularly when he nearly, nearly held the whole peleton off and just missed winning the stage (Vuelta 2013 I think). I was shouting at the TV hoping he'd do it!

Wout for his snot face, his ability to really fucking get at MVDP, and his willingness to work hard. Also. Hair.Lars for his willingness to get stuck in. His hurdling. And his balls for the rutty descending. Also. Big cock.
I loved nairo when he appeared but he's been neutralised.
Also grudgingly like valverde. Comedy bad man.
Also Tony Martin.

I'll start with a controversial pick. Vincenzo Nibali, because of the panache in his 2014 tdf win, his palmares across stage and one day racing, and the fact he has some devil in him. Not the most talented rider physically, but a very good tactician.
My second choice would be Gilbert. His year of grace was when I really started watching a lot of pro cycling, and his longevity and return to form in recent years sealed the love affair for me. I wish he could have won all five classic monuments, but guess it won't happen now.
To my eye, they also both look right on a bike. Their form and style are awesome.
