  • Did most of this in my first week. A particularly nasty rivet rivet on a pair of jeans. Say la vee

  • had a look on chrono24... seems Rolex prices are dropping? 2020 watches only 1k above Rolexes price... (not a lot of them though)

  • Yeah, seeing the same on Crown and Caliber emails. Dropping prices of Rolex sports references, Tin Tin Speedmaster (sorry @Dammit) and other desirable references.

  • Had to happen - the second I bought the Sub I knew the market was doomed.

  • Where?

Pepsi is still double the price as far as I can see...

  • Did your man not promise to buy it back at cost next year? Sell it back then get the gmt you actually wanted for less?

  • He said (quite reasonably) that he'd buy it back for the same price as long as things were much the same then as they are now with regards to the economy. Luckily, I like the watch a lot and don't intend on selling it.

  • Seems optimistic !

Maybe I should sell my 5 digit Sub, and buy a 16610LV (in few months) with what I get for it..

  • Funny as I've always liked this watch too but never tried one on and had a BB58 but felt it had something missing. Need to give one a whirl.

Talking of Iris, decent current price on this for anyone who is a fan and has larger wrists. User also has a blue Pelagos for sale.

  • For what it's worth, these wear way smaller than the 43.5mm diameter suggests. I'd written off anything 42mm or larger for myself but this was fine for me and well proprtioned. The lug to lug is much shorter than most. Great watch especially with that deep blue dial.

  • I was only looking at 2020 Submariner or Sea Dweller... nothing fancy

  • Fair enough. The submariner has been not too far away from rrp for a while anyway.

Pepsi comes and closer to rrp and I’m considering emptying an isa.

  • Fundamentally all that matters! Hopefully get 50 yrs of wear out of it..

  • Dat Oris has liek a little light house / knob for an hour hand. Quaint. 😎

  • Lockdown has some strange consequences.. now thinking a day/date is essential as I have no idea.

  • Hopefully get 50 yrs of wear out of it..

That's the idea. If GMT pricess do take a beating (and given the global depression that I think is coming) AND I still have a job, I might get one next year.

The Sub was my ten years sober award, which is another reason to keep it.

  • Good one.. Not easy

  • Thanks for this, I saw their own Satinato Black which look much more ulitatrian than blingy.

Exactly how I would go about asking for discount? as it felt quite cheeky (expect in the cycling industry).

The blue is stunning but feel more like a watch to wear on occasion than everyday.

  • Really enjoyed the blue;

  • I own a black dial 1521 Satinato, AMA.

It’s a pure tool diver. No polished surfaces, orange minute hand, anti glare on the sapphire crystal, great legibility. Chunky feeling 60 click bezel, rated to 500m etc. Also the hand alignment is perfect which is more than can be said for a lot of Seikos at the same price point. Really big fan of it.

Re: a discount, just send them an email, say you’re interested in model X and ask them what sort of deal they could do on it. Worse case they say “no discounts, sorry”, but they might offer 5 or 10% or just throw in a strap. Worth a try.

  • Glad to hear you have one, I had the Seiko SKX007 for quite some times, and reading up on the Squale, with it's history and homage, I'm really drawn onto the 1521 since appearance similar to the modern Seiko.

Polished look nice and I like how the chapter ring reflect, I guess it come down to whether to go polish or satin.

Have been reading that the rubber strap is very comfortable from some customers.

Blue look super nice, hard not to go for it as this felt like a proper diver colour (says the person who climb mountains).

Perfect, I'll ask them what they can do for me, thanks!

  • Yeah the Squale branded rubber strap that came with mine is really nice, it’s not the same as the one pictured on the P&C site at the moment though.

  • I do have one question, is whether a matt finish is a typical finish on a "proper" diver watch.
