• 99db/w/m is very high sensitivity.

    99db is loud

    Remember that an increase in 10w is a doubling of loudness.

    You could drive them to uncomfortable levels with a handful of watts.

    Consumer amp ratings are mostly about marketing and dick waving.

  • Make sure you are feeding the inputs enough. Your speakers are very sensitive so it seems more possible that you're underpowering the inputs.

  • If you go for the Crowns I'd give them a good clean. As they are PA Amps and possibly from a club/small touring system there is going to be a lot of smoke fluid residue in them.

    And as mentioned before the fans in them can be noisy, not obviously a problem when the speakers are blasting loud music out but certainly audible at low volume.
