With our current government, everything is about politics.
Our leaders are saintly scientist compared with the US administration

Today Richmond park bans cyclists without NHS badge (under 12 yo OK)
The rumour is that it's to do with congestion at the gates and people not maintaining 2m distance as they queue to get through (the pedestrian gates are slow enough as a pedestrian let alone trying to get a bike through). Pedestrians are bad but the sheer numbers if you allow cyclists make it way worse, so cyclists get banned.
I believe that they're looking at solutions for keeping the main gates open enough for cyclists to get through but preventing cars using the park. If they sort something out it's likely to reopen to cyclists next week some time.

Your DR plan needs significant work from the sounds of it.

Just been out for a walk for the first time in a week. Why are some people so bloody inconsiderate as to think that running in a group is still ok? Especially on a narrow path giving no room to anyone else.

Because they’re fucking idiots.

If you left it like that too long, all the gravel would run down to the bottom of the picture.

All comments have a dateTime permalink so you could definitely plot a curve of comments against time!
Whether anyone can be bothered another question of course!
Wouldn't be surprised if David has some analytics dashboard built in that displays this sort of info though.

The ped gates have been opened such that you can walk straight through, no touching/ opening/ squeezing through like normal (oooo eeerrr).
I'm not sure what the right answers are here in general. All the open spaces are busy. Its hardly surprising and we can't moan too much - there are a huge number of people who all want their hour in the fresh air, and the only thing anyone has to do all day is that. No pop round a mates for a chat, no head into town for some retail therapy, no cinema, bowling alley, soft play, kids parties, barbecue, pub lunch, watch some sport, visit the parents etc. THE ONLY THING IS THE PARK. So it's busy.

Sorry if I have been part of this, think we have all had an element of cabin fever last week. Perhaps jokes are the wrong tone at the moment.

My DR plan for that involves my old Tacx entry level trainer and a bike with a power meter. However, Niece #1 wants to do some indoor cycling, and of course you can't buy a turbo trainer now for love nor money, so being a nice uncle I'm sending it to her. But no good deed goes unpunished.

Unpopular opinion incoming but people need to get a grip and stop obsessing about exercise. If you want to do something beneficial for your body as well as the nhs, stay home and eat less! Impossible to outrun or outcycle a bad diet, plus the risk from injuries.

^^ won’t link to it but check out pictures on the sun website of people exercising in London parks today. It is utterly irresponsible and selfish at this point.

Current medical advice is to have a good diet and to go out and exercise once a day. What qualifications do you have in public health and epidemiology which makes you better qualified to advise people on this?
Just because some people are being idiots when exercising outdoors doesn't mean it's a bad thing per se. Just means that some people are idiots, which is hardly news.

I have none, and I am aware that ideally people would do both exercise and eat well. Public discussion so far has however totally disregarded one at the expense of the other.

Exercising indoors is a perfectly valid option also.
