I have a monitor with two USB-C ports (and a bunch of USB3) so I use one for thunderbolt to the macbook for power/video and then attach other peripherals via either usb or another hub. Backup drive also plugged into monitor on the 2nd usb-c port. Tidied up my desk a lot.

Not sure if this is the right place but here goes;
My internet has taken a complete battering this past week, is this simply down to the fact that the world and his wife are now WFH and this taking up the internet pipes?
Or is there something I can do at home to speed things up?

Depends on your provider, what you're using and where the slowdown is.
What has "taken a battering"?Contention (people fighting for the download pipe) is gonna be well up - you can get around that by using it overnight instead of during the day (obvs depends what you're doing). Wifi signals will be fighting a bit harder for free space if you've got neighbours - can try changing channels if it's a wifi strength issue. You could try upgrading your connection but if it's using the same pipe, unless your provider offers a priority/shaping solution you'll still be fighting for space. You could also try different connection - ie. if everyone is using the same cable provider in your area, mobile broadband might be underutilised so try a dongle? Put a hammer through every neighbours wifi?

Almost certainly.

If you're all caning the wifi it may be worth using a wired connection for one or two of the heavier users (depending on how fast your internet is).

Actually my ISP (Plusnet) has sent me an email saying it's all good because the spread out WFH during the day has nothing on the evening peak, although that's presumably now even more peaky (blinders) due to everyone staying in and watching non linear TV...

Try plugging in to the router directly to see if it's a wifi or general internet issue. There's some things that can indicate it being a lost cause if there are just a lot of neighbours connecting to the same street cabinet, things like living in a big block of flats, a densely populated area, or knowing how far away your cabinet is from your house.

What has "taken a battering"?
My internet has just slowed down to almost a crawl. Files are taking forever to open and web pages that are almost instant are taking a lot longer.

probably been asked/answered already - any recommendations for co-op Xbox One games I can play with Mrs EB? - she loves Super Mario Bros/World style games whereas I like Skyrim/Halo ish type things (not a massive gamer!)
cheers!

Files are taken forever to open? What files? Local files on your hard drive? That could be a local issue. When was the last time your rebooted your machine? What apps are you running?
Re: internet speeds run speedtest.net. What results do you get?

I’ve used a power line system to connect devices, so that it limits WiFi usage, such as VOIP phone, NAS drive.

Lego games are great for co-op, get marvel avengers. If your mrs likes super mario you won't go wrong.

Sharepoint question:
There is a sharepoint folder which automatically collects all files posted to a Team.
Can I keep a Sharepoint folder on my desktop using OneDrive? So I have a desktop folder which always has files associated with a Team? -

This is genius! Coping this for my bedroom.
Different question!
I was an idiot and delete a (blank) section of a notebook associated with a Team channel. It's a Class Team and notebook. The Notes tab won't go away, and it tries to open a non existent notebook now. I tried making a new section in the notebook with the right name that it's looking for but not working. Is there a way of relinking? Maybe in SharePoint? I don't know how to navigate the SharePoint site for the Team so use simple language please :)
