Played about with adding some grip / texture with a soldering iron.
Felt a bit tougher than I expected, so I tried knocking it down with some scrap rough sandpaper.
Last night I wasn't that keen as it fucked up the stippled finish. But actually I now quite like it as it's basically made those areas feel soft and grippy, rather than hard and very grippy...if that makes sense.
To anyone else trying it id recommended lightly marking out the area in pencil. I lightly scored it with another knife around the main contact areas, but the scoring remains.
I think you can tidy the finish up with a heat gun if you have one.
