Too complicated. I'd attribute it to baseline Trump narcissism. He wants his ego massaged in return for not being a total arsehole.

Just been into my local medium sized tesco's and they now have some C-19 measures bike rack closed (obviously) the security guard told me to lock up on the troll parking area. cleaning products to whip down the trolls.
Lots of aisle closed for restocking, not unreasonable I guess. Most of the other aisle had been turned into dead ends which even in a sparsely populated super market had people wondering round into each other confused trying to find there way back to the tills, fuck know what that's all about.

Especially when the dead have no data protection rights
-
• #7755
They haven’t been very anonymised.
As discussed very early on in this thread.
I’d imagine they’ll be reported just as a death unless consent is given for age, condition etc. -
• #7756
whip down the trolls.
Harsh but fair.
-
• #7757
Could you please argue your point instead of being snidey?
-
• #7758
So the data is held back so you can't trace symptoms etc back to an individual, and therefor figure out how / why the person passed?
-
• #7759
They are being factual.
Edit:sexism boo boo

Apologies, my bad. Thought it was a bit of a jab

Like all those hotels on the west coast during the firefighters strike in the late 70s?
-
• #7763
I'm not trying to be snidey. I think I'm agreeing with you.
I don't see any reason to delay any death stats reported at a national level. You might want to delay local stats so there is the opportunity to inform, but not ask the consent of, the family first.

It's gonna be awful, I can feel it...
Schools closed in Queensland after tomorrow, the states are taking action where the federal government is dragging its feet...
-
• #7765
Gotcha. Sorry my bad for being a bit quick to judge
Been thinking about this now and I can see why you want to avoid releasing full stats about a death as you can figure out how the deceased has lived. But in a situation like this I can't see why you can't just say "CV19 related issues" and leave it at that?
Or is there a stigma around this?

The Governor of Mississippi has over-ruled the stay at home policies that people have instituted.
Guess whether he's a Republican or a Democrat.

Fuck me. The US is well and truly fucked. I really hope for some kind of miracle over there but it seems like grim times are coming for them
Hopefully this'll be a wake up call for them. History won't be kind.

Yes I'm encouraging her to this morning. I wonder what it would take for them to stop of their own volition...
-
• #7769
It’s more age, sex, pregnant etc that potentially no longer means they are anonymous.
It’s speculative; but I’d imagine NHS PHE would like to carry on publishing this as when younger people start showing up in the stats maybe more people will take the distancing advise seriously.
-
• #7770
So are they going to release the actual figures, but at a national level with any identifiers stripped away, or are we only going to get the edited figures?
-
• #7771
It's the perfect way for Trump to go out, his nation in chaos because he was too arrogant to do the right thing at the right time... Too smart to listen to the experts, taking huge risks at everybody else's expense, his personality disorder running riot...
It's gonna be an amazing movie... Worst deal ever...

Lots of discussion in this thread on what might be happening but it goes conspiracy theory very quickly
https://twitter.com/SaveTheNHS4U/status/1242943475789766663There is a suggestion that the consent relates to testing post death rather than being included in the stats, so might be more dying than included as not all dead are being tested or it is being attributed to other conditions such as pneumonia

Elderly woman from our blocks of flats still doing her daily walk to the shop in the morning. Infuriating.

Schools closed in Queensland after tomorrow
Isn't that because it's school holidays?
In Vic my brother's kids are in "closed" schools with a 30% rotating skeleton staff because their parents are key workers and/or working out of town.

Maybe offer to do it for her?
Wonder the same thing. Can't see why an individual should have any right to impact statistics as long as its properly anonymised
