Seems to be quite hung up on whether COVID is 'living' or not, which although an interesting subject to debate, doesn't seem to be that relevant?

The bits I've eaten were either neat or mixed with some paint, possibly with a hint of lead chaser

Also reported on Newsnight that the Department for Health changed the way the death stats are compiled so the figures now require family consent to be included, so todays total is just for deaths today but lags as it captures some they only just consent for but also excludes some

It's not, relevant, that is. Whether or not a virus is living largely depends on how you define the word 'living', as Wittgenstein would probably point out if he was on LFGSS.

That was my point, but the article seems to think its important, since it mentions that it isn't living more than once. I just find it slightly bizarre, but pretty benign

Yep, it's an odd piece. A combination of the bleeding obvious, some spurious bollocks, and some really bad science. And, like you say, a weird obsession on whether a virus is alive or not. Which is rather besides the point, particularly when you consider the damage that prions have done.

Made me wonder if it originated from the US, from an evangelistic christian. They obsess over 'life', and when 'life' begins.

So. Schools in South Australia off from next week, one week before the Easter holidays start.

Seems a bit late. Don’t allow adults to gather but let the incubator of infection that is the average school continue. Here the schools and further education things were the first thing to shut

America looks like its going to be terrible. New York seems to be much further along than London already and you have Republican State Governors doing mad stuff like banning businesses from closing and overruling city councils who have put stay at home in place. “Mississippi is not China” is an actual quote.

Given that quite a lot of it is very obviously utter bollocks, how reliable do you think the figures and facts in the rest of it are? I use the word 'facts' in the loosest possible way.

Hah yeah. It’s not the worst advice I’ve read on this by a country mile.
The life thing is interesting - I’m equally weirded out by people who should know better anthropomorphising this thing.

With the advice to 'use other parks in the borough'.

ha!
I don't know how badly behaved people were in viccy park but surely it would be better to police it rather than shut it.
I'd be gutted if my local park was shut.

This is really worrying - it means we simply can't trust the figures. Or will they release the true figure a few days later?

What do people think of the theory that Trump saying "but they have to be nice to us" about when he'll help New York is him telling Cuomo that the New York AG has to drop the investigation into Trump before he'll release emergency funds?

I went through twice yesterday (it is a pleasant way to skip a lot of the terrible east end roads).
Most people I saw were by themselves and adhering to distancing. Police riding horses side by side however were not.

Why is family consent needed to gather an anonymous statistic like that?
-
• #7748
By your account the type of wipe is a small detail of what they're getting wrong!
They sound batshit to me. This bit is breaking the government guidance for normal folk never mind medical staff:
go on group walks to the supermarket at lunch
I agree that she should whistleblow on them.

To allow the government to massage the figure, I submit.

It's shit but entirely the fault of the idiots unable to follow simple rules.
Then there's the fact that the SARS-Cov2 virus is an RNA virus so doesn't contain any DNA at all. I think it's fair to say the clues were there.
