• Drivers are having their start times staggered more to avoid contact as far as practically possible.

The TOC I work for are setting up Mess Rooms in rail carriages so that train crew can sit apart on breaks. Because we are running less trains the Control, where I work, is being thinned so we all sit a couple of metres apart. All staff with underlying conditions have all been sent home for at least 12weeks. Spare staff ring in at beginning off shift to check if required, if not, stay in phone contact. Guards do doors only, no revenue. The new diagrams have been a bastard though.
    It's reasonably well thought out

  • our new timetables are a bit more intense than yours I'm guessing, our new control room caters for 4 lines so they would have to thin out quite a bit. The rumour is our scheduling department are self isolating causing a delay , not sure if they can wfh ! Our spares need to be in the building as you often get a job with few minutes notice. At the moment the service is run on an hour by hour basis depending on how many drivers are in .
