• They basically have the research/data recording infrastructure in place from previous studies they have run (which are based in nutritional science, but are essentially unrelated to COVID-19). It's a bit like that gin distillery in Bristol that's producing hand sanitiser - using already available facilities to help with the effort as it is much quicker and more efficient than starting from scratch.

  • It's a worthwhile question to ask though, especially when it comes to handing out personal data en masse, you don't want to be giving it to anyone with potentially nefarious intentions.
