• Which "gravel" sized chinese chainrings (46-30t) for a 105 5800 crankset?

  • I've used this for about 5k km's now: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32854336819.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.75484c4dlI84yX

Can't be faulted for 10 euros.

  • Anyone got any recommendations sellers for bulk cable and outer purchases? I've sort of committed to overhauling bikes for people and teaching a bit of basic maintenance and it's probably easier if I have all that stuff on hand rather than trying to recommend somewhere to go.

  • Anyone recognise what this frame is? Unbranded carbon so I figured it was probably a Chinese Aliexpress job. Arrived at my dads shop, some guy wanted rid. Weight on the scales at the back there is 930g including the packaging.

  • Anyone got good recommendations on DH rims looking for 26" one and not sure what ones are good or bad.

  • What are your build plans then? :D

  • I ordered a pair of Farsports wheels on January 17th. The previous pair I bought from them (last year) took exactly 3 weeks from order to delivery. A week or so later Covid started properly kicking off in China. They emailed me in early Feb to let me know they would be delayed...

Finally shipped from China on March 3rd via Hong Kong, they are now in Germany so hopefully won’t be more than another few days.

I’m actually quite surprised and impressed that the wheels have been built and shipped at all, let alone so quickly, given how messed up everything is right now. Also the communication I’ve had from Farsports has been excellent. I’m looking forward to getting my new wheels soon.

Just thought I would post this in case anyone else is in a similar position. When I placed the order it looked like the virus was no big deal, it was literally 2 or 3 days later that the first cases appeared outside China and the scale of the outbreak began to be recognised. Obviously there are far more important things than new bike wheels!

  • Same here. I ordered some rims from Light Bicycle. They let me know they'd be delayed due to C19 lock down, let me know they'd started making them, and then contacted me to say one had failed QC checks so they were making a replacement pair. Haven't got them yet, but the communication has been first class.

  • and then contacted me to say one had failed QC checks so they were making a replacement pair

That is refreshingly transparent. I got a wheelset (well, rims, really) from them last year, had a really good experience dealing with them too. They were comparatively quick, better than average at understanding and answering questions, and the final product was exactly what I wanted. They've been performing very well so far too, I'll let my will executors let you know if they do unexpectedly explode ;)

Btw, 'understanding and answering questions' is not even targeted at their knowledge of English, but their reading comprehension. I've found that it is insane how bad some sales people are at just reading what is there, and answering the actual question (and answering all of the actual questions). One British company providing customised sports kit for example stood out as the peak of a negative experience - you'd ask them about two things, they'd answer one of them, but really badly / ambiguously / missing the point... LB on the other hand were pretty to the point, made sure they had understood everything correctly, provided sample images, etc. etc. In that sense, definitely exemplary. Though obviously that is the experience of one single customer with one single purchase!

  • Yep, I've been dealing with them for a few years now, and they've never failed to impress. The only immediate problem is that I ordered the rims to be shipped to work, somewhere I'm not planning on being for a few weeks. Still, first world problems'n'all.

  • I must have ordered mine from Farsports at a very similar time to you. No updates for ages until I was starting to wonder whether I should cancel the order and then they were in regular contact. Arrived last week to my office and I picked them up yesterday. Impressed so far but the proof is in the building which won't be by me...

  • Nice hubs! (Both pairs, but especially the purple ones)

  • Thanks! They are really nice in the flesh

  • Are those second set tubeless compatible? Could you share link. Cheers

  • Yes tubeless compatible wide versions. More expensive than most of their range but they appear very good quality with the valve hole moulded rather than drilled for example.

  • anybody run lightbicycle's wr50 rims? curious about measured tire widths. thinking of buying a pair but would like to figure what tires i can run

  • My farsports wheels finally arrived today! Nearly 10 weeks since ordering, but very pleased to have them at all. They were the last thing I was waiting for to finish rebuilding my Peugeot 753. Will post pictures in current projects ASAP...

  • I've got some WR38 rims which have the same internal width. My 28mm GP 5000s come up around 31mm.

  • Straight from China to UK? My Dads got some LB rims that have been stuck in Germany for nearly a week now :/ not sure what we can do given whats going on in the world

  • They came from China via Hong Kong and Germany. Xiamen XDB Logistics (Chinese courier) to Germany then UPS. I was given tracking details which was reassuring. They left the factory on 3rd March and arrived yesterday (23rd).

Don’t know if that’s helpful, maybe LB can give you a tracking number?

  • I'm after some carbon rim-brake wheels, approx 35-40mm deep... I've seen some Token wheels knocking around for 600 euros but wondered what people recommend from the usual Chinese manufacturers?

  • Light Bicycle seem to be the wheels of choice in terms of quality/price/weight - lots on here with good feedback

  • Anyone after a replica of a Canyon VCLS 2.0 CF Seatpost?

27.2mm - not sure if it was a S14 or S14 but you get the gist.

    https://www.canyon.com/en-gb/gear/components/posts-and-clamps/seatposts/canyon-s14-vcls-2.0-cf-seatpost/148286.html

Actually one of the best, if not the best, seatpost I have owned.

IIRC I paid about £50 for it on Aliexpress. I am now splitting my Focus bike which has a cracked frame.

    Offers around the £25 welcomed!
