I can quite safely ride my bike around London.
As I will. On my own. And not coming within close contact of anyone.

Those that choose to be lax with the rules should just be shunned by their peers. Hit ignore?

By society.

I'm not sure if LFGSS has a societal level of the ignore function.

So as I understand it the exercising ONCE a day thing is a factor. My little solo isolated trips to and from my studio are out I’d say. I’m completely prepared to comply obviously, now that’s deemed too much. Just a shame it’s come about because of people mud wrestling on Columbia Road while chewing each other’s food and having orgies like there isn’t a massive global virus banging about.

Excellent news. Pleased things are ramping up. That people are upset is good, as it means we're making sacrifices and this is what we need.

I know several NHS workers who enjoy all-day rides on their days off. They’re doing the same still.
It’s not the case that a bike ride has a high chance of an injury, even if your riding in London.

Risk is surely proportional to how many people you come within 2 metres of. If you are going out self-supported (ie. leave home with all the food/water you need for the ride) going out for a 10 hour ride likely poses less risk than nipping back to the supermarket to pick up the coffee you forgot.

I just had that discussion with my girlfriend “oh thats you in wales for 3 weeks then” no it wont because right now i need to be responsible . The rules have changed, agh your lazy and wont go out then , but i am the only one riding to work on the wirral right now and not a key worker !

I've only come within two metres of myself and my wife for years.

Can you really read the list of restrictions on the BBC website and decide that a 10 hour solo bike ride is justifiable?
It depends whether a ten hour ride is an ambitious ride or routine.
-
• #7038
We were talking about exercise, not 'jaunts'.
I don't think one hour is sufficient, and tbf ten would be silly but people jumping up and down with blanket condemnations based on their own abilities and experience can gtfo.

Looks like NICE have clarified things a bit now :
“We welcome the recent clarification that the Clinical Frailty Score should not be used in certain groups, including those with learning disability and cerebral palsy (https://scfn.org.uk/clinical-frailty-scale…), which we will reflect in an updated version of our guideline.” -

Considered a turbo
Fall of turbo at home, need an ambulance

No, no, you are, literally killing people if you go for a bike ride.
Freaking out about people riding their bikes, its like getting upset about the deck chairs on the titanic.

Not sure what the point is without employers being forced to play along. I look forward to another bullshit email from our CEO tomorrow justifying keeping us all on the plant.

Looks highly likely my housemate has it, fun times, he’s confined to his room now.
-

Is it not also about spread? You could potentially be infected and fit to ride a century then ride out to some quiet village, refuel at a shop and spread the virus to somewhere new.
-
• #7045
Every little helps, but yeah, who's going to not be in work tomorrow who was today?
Hopefully less casual wanders, meeting pals for rides etc
-
• #7046
refuel at a shop
Not tomorrow you can't!
-
• #7047
who's going to not be in work tomorrow who was today?
Shop workers who don't work in supermarkets/pharmacies

We’ve got a potentially weird grey area at my work, where we can all work from home and have been for a while. But we sell physical products online, and the third party fulfilment centre theoretically could still be running. I think there’s not been much clarification on whether “absolutely necessary” refers to the travel to a job, or the job itself. Shipping our products right now is not vital to people’s survival. But if the same fulfilment centre ships groceries, the workers will presumably be there anyway.

Spraying a plume of airborne virions behind them?
Admittedly few should be out to be infected.

Shop workers who don't work in supermarkets/pharmacies
and vets, pet shops, hardware stores, newsagents, petrol stations, banks, post offices, laundrettes and undertakers, and no doubt many others.
Do you not think risk is proportional to ride duration? Or do you really think a 10 minute jaunt is just as risky as a 10 hour ride?
Can you really read the list of restrictions on the BBC website and decide that a 10 hour solo bike ride is justifiable?
