  • It’s bizarre and sad this isn’t a given fact.

  • Nipped out for essentials this morning and witnessed a polite contretemps between a staff worker and a ned couple who were clearly together but trying to circumvent the two items each rule by each taking a basket. Tinned goods? Fruit? Paracetamol? No. 8 litres of budget vanilla ice cream. We’re fucked, aren’t we?

  • The service is reduced for a reason, in addition to the people normally off, restday etc. We have a number of people who are self isolating for various reasons. The tube is open for essential travel, that means key workers only .......
Yes we could cancel leave etc but it does mean that they can guarantee a level of service with people returning to work at intervals.
We don't have the option of wfh.

  • I popped out earlier to pick up a book from the local bookshop (before you all pile in I live in a small town and social distancing in this case is easy, it's quiet and there is plenty of space). On the way down I was accosted by an older gentleman asking how he'd get the train. First I was thinking you shouldn't be out on the street (clearly over 70) but gave him directions, trying to keep my distance. Quite a long and confusing conversation followed but I established he was more than a bit confused and by himself. Got him back in his house after making sure he really did live there and his wife came home. She'd "just popped out" (again, clearly over 70 but seemed to have all her faculties). I left as fast as I could but offered to get them anything if they needed it. This guy clearly had dementia or something similar.

Really brought home how certain vulnerable people are going to be hit by this. Felt wrong going into their home but couldn't just leave this guy on the street and he was on about getting on a train - with no particular destination in mind. If he'd made it to the station he could have just walked onto a train as there are no barriers or anything.

  • The workshop is booming (despite Cycle Republic is closing forever and luckily got a new job), however we end up putting this up as we were fed up of kids, old people etc. Coming in like it’s a normal days and touching everything;

  • And yes, anyone who work for the NHS get discounted service, cause why not, I'm leaving in two weeks time anyway.

  • Here we go

  • Cyclings allowed!
    ! !

I’ve been in bed with suspected covid for a week so this excites me when I’m feeling better again.

  • Review in three weeks.

How long is a reasonable exercise ride/walk?

  • Might be wrong but 30 minutes - 1 hour anymore = being a dick.

  • Just hand the fucking keys to Amazon on your way out.

  • “Adults should get 1.5 hrs 3 times a week”

  • Well jell of your lockdown in Sweden

  • Hopefully this will be a wake-up call for some of the pricks I have seen on Stra*a “smashing out centuries” in the Scottish hills or on group rides where “I’m always off the back so kept a safe distance LOL.” Aye, clever lads.

  • Fuck off with that being a dick talk.

If someone goes out for a ten hour bike ride alone, not interacting or being close to anyone, touching nothing but their bars then what difference does it make?

  • I thought the plotted was the edge of the edge of the graph. Woah.

  • Falling off putting extra stress on NHS needing an ambulance because you’re five hours away from home.

Yeah I’ll stick with being a dick.

  • Have you considered cycle training?

  • Don’t ride 5 hours away from home... ride well with in your limits etc.

  • You can fall off 10 mins from home and still need an ambulance.

  • Considered a turbo and not causing extra fucking stress on an already over capacity NHS?

Fuck me can we all be a little less fucking selfish in this tiny little fucking time frame?

  • STAY AT FUCKING HOME.

  • Because if you are unfortunate enough to crash - especially in a remote location - you are expecting an ambulance crew (who may not have adequate PPE) to favour you over someone who stayed at home or who has, like me, an underlying health condition who has a more pressing need of emergency care. I know ambulance crew who are unable to do full CPR - so chest compressions only - since they have inadequate PPE. We all have to change our behaviour.

  • Nope.

I can quite safely ride my bike around London.

  • You’re a cool guy.
