COViD - Housing Issues

  • Thread for renters affected by the consequences of the shutdown.

I might have to sublet for the next couple of months to get over this bump, I am all alone in a 2(3 possibly) bedroom house.

Anybody else find themselves jammed for accommodation or stuck somewhere they don't want to be but can't move from?

  • The property owners told me their morgage was too high to offer a greater discount than £170.

Most likely they are going to receive a morgage-holiday due to the crisis right?

What a fucking time to be alive.

  • There'll be able to get a mortgage holiday.
The government is banning evictions for next 3 months, so you've got all the power really.

  • They might not have realised that a Holiday is on offer and should be offered in a way that it wont mark their credit history. If you think they aren't total arseholes it might be worth trying to convince them of that.

  • seeing as the government are banning evictions during this time and have extended the 3 month payment holiday to Buy to Let I just wouldn't pay.

  • Yep I have sent them a super-sweet reply with some information and directed them to the agent who I have copied in.

  • Should be an interesting three months..

  • Looks like I will have two rooms going in a good street in Leyton at reasonable rates..

If you know anybody decent in a pinch for a room during the crisis (a double and large front room) send them my way.

  • Actually above makes no sense.

If the property owners get off my back I may be able to offer a room for free (but chip in for bills).

    We'll see.

Maybe. BTL mortgages are somewhat different to residential.
