• She definitely knows that quarantine hotels are self-paid. And yes I do know why very many Chinese people hate the Japanese (I live in China/speak Chinese/studied Chinese history) and while obviously it's no excuse, as you say, I also cannot imagine being able to forgive and forget if I or my family had gone through the absolute horror the Japanese inflicted on China in the 1930s.

  • I recently saw that film on Netflix of Prime about the massacre of Nanking.

    Beyond comprehension of awfulness.

  • An excellent rabbit hole like project for total three month lock-down would be study of Japanese history from 1600-present.

  • Even more horrifying (if that's even possible??) are the concentration camps in the north, I visited Unit 731 a few years ago and still think about it (and the subsequent cover up) a lot.
