  • Don't you have a cough?

  • I’m pretty sure I might have one brewing ;)
If some staff stay home am I/we eligible for the 80% wage cover or does the whole company have to shut down for that to kick in?

  • No alcohol gel?

You can rustle up some homebrew with meths (modern meths can be all ethanol, such as barratines.) and water.

  • At the risk of sounding like a broken record ...

From the epidemiologists I’ve read and heard: to flatten a curve there is really no reason not close things / lock down when you first get a confirmed case in a community (village/town/city). The UK didn’t even close Schools or businesses on confirmation of cases. So we’re likely heading for a slight flattening on a large curve and more people will have died than if we’d moved quicker. On the plus side there may be more immune people sooner (steepening slightly the downward curve).

Obviously all of the above is just one idiot’s understanding (me!).

  • It would be nice to have more explanation and have a general overview, so each press conference doesn't feel like a lucky dip of what restriction is coming today?

  • Similar situation early last week. I actually decided to take matters into my own hands, risk my job and send people home. Luckily for me company policy landed a matter of hours later that mandated basically what I’d already done.

It’s your call. But you probably know what to do.

  • It's propaganda 101 isn't it... Tell us that's there's loads of bread on the shelves, hospitals have it well in hand, everyone's soother bit...

Instead Johnson just waffles on a bit and then some more advice...

  • Head over to the stats thread for the #science 🤟🏼

I would also recommend the two Making Sense podcasts on Covid-19 put up last week for an intro/overview.

Bojo’s bullshit Punch and Judy show is useless. It seems to have completely separated from reality now.

  • Estimates suggest early evening bogie excavations down 60%

My daughter's nose has been utterly encrusted the last couple of days. It's taken all of my willpower not to get in there to help clean it up.

(This is just one of the perks of being a parent... "Don't pick your nose! ... Come here! ... let me do it.")

  • Is nobody else on here a teacher being made to go into work tomorrow? We’re having an ALL STAFF planning meeting as are all our other 50+ academies in the morning. Seems like a recipe for disaster as everyone has been at home all weekend then mixes on Monday

  • Takes me 6 or 7 hours to brew, he got a lot done today !

  • We had those up until Tuesday (uni not school). I mean, just make a decision and email us! Why make us mix with all these colleagues we'd never go near on a normal day.
It sounds like a terrible idea to still be doing them tomorrow though. Can't you do it online? Even if you have to work, your employer should be doing everything they can to minimise contact between people.

  • I was talking to Greg about this yesterday. They closed Chatsworth Road market today, which has way fewer people.

  • we have lots of ventilators

    What´s the news about ventilators?

  • Either Marouane Fellaini is the most unlucky man in China, or there is more coronavirus circulating there than they are letting on.

  • He has got a very sticky chest.

  • Either Marouane Fellaini is the most unlucky man in China, or there is more coronavirus circulating there than they are letting on.

Apparently he had arrived in China on Friday.

  • If maintaining 2m isn’t possible, leave.

Nobody in a month’s time will be shaming conscientious people for taking timely and appropriate precautions.

  • ^ should be @Tallboy
(My work is no longer having mass face to face meetings. )

  • Key workers tasked with caring for vulnerable teenage children ... so far they’ve been given hand gel. They’re still visiting kids (at their home, with unconfirmed covid-19) and cooking for them in their kitchen. They’ve had no guidance yet other than to ‘wipe’ things’. Some staff still working with symptoms unaware they’d get sick pay.

The fucking idiocy. They’re soon likely to be ~ 25% down on staff and will need to be creative with procedure. What are they waiting for?

  • Fair enough, I imagine Bangor hasn’t got huge capacity and there is bigger all else.

  • I thought he caught it outside the country and brought it back.

  • Yep. Special needs, so we have a lot of kids in. Lots of staff off self-isolating too. I've had a tight chest, sore throat and a fairly regular cough (but no extended bouts), and just trying to work out what to do. We have two small children who will have to use childcare this week as we're both teachers.

  • Sorry, yes.

  • thanks, I'll check them.
