• All this stuff about 'permission', 'behavioural science' and 'were not South Korea' is bollocks.

    I'm sure you know this, but South Korea has been on a permanent war footing since the 50s. Their people literally live in fear of invasion from the North - they do what their government tells them. They have mandatory male conscription and 15% of their huge GDP is spent on defence. They've had a coup d'etat in living memory. They've also benefitted from experience of SARS and being inclose proximity to nations that has also had previous experience.

    We can't magic this in to the national psyche.

    Real leaders lead in a time of crisis. You can't fucking focus group a response.

    Yeah I agree but in a fight between a government and 60m disinterested people, guess who wins? Unless the army comes out but by that time you've already lost.

  • The PM could at least try! I've watched all the press conferences and the communication has been shambolic.

  • I think now, or in the next couple of weeks, the govt. will be able to put the hammer down without some horrific societal backlash or revolt within their own party.
