  • I've bought XCOM EU/EW. If I stick with it, apparently I'm at the start of a long journey.

If you enjoy it, you can extend your journey even further by buying XCOM 2 once you're done. One of the few series where I play and enjoy the old and new versions at basically the same time. I finish EU/EW and then do XCOM 2 and then go back and repeat the cycle over and over. So good!

  • I was thinking about that, but I think I can easily sink a few hundred hours into this alone if the bugs don't get too annoying. Also, apparently there is a big mod called the 'Long War', have you ever tried it?

Bugs are mostly gone now. It's a great game, especially after the EW expansion. And XCOM 2 is great too. Shame the multiplayer was pretty half baked.

Long War works well too. Larger squads but they add fatigue in so you need to rotate a bit. Longer research times, lots of extra items and soldier perks.

Definitely play through the normal EW game first before Long War.

    Tempted to reinstall

  • EU/EW isn't buggy at all for me, so you might get lucky. I know of Long War, but haven't played it - I (as in me, the player) get fatigued over long campaigns, so prefer to keep them shorter. It's very popular, though. The XCOM subreddit has a lot of Long War players on it, and the community is surprisingly non-toxic. Good place to pick up strategy and management tips.
