One thing that feels kind strange looking back over the past week or so is that I didn't stop eating and didn't skip a meal. Never properly hungry but able to keep on feeding myself.
Also I did have my winter flu jab back in November. Not sure that would have made any difference though.

No flu yet, though it has been years since I had it properly like this time. Reading the list of symptoms I tick the following boxes
- Fever - check
- Cough - check
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing - if being knackered going up the stairs is this, then check
- Tiredness - check
- Aches - check
- Runny nose - check
- Sore throat - nope
On the other hand this list could be for any old flu, couldn't it?
- Fever - check

Same here. Haven't been hungry but managed to eat at about 75% capacity

Skipped coffee completely yesterday as I couldn't find the energy to brew a cup. Think that'll explain my headache for the last 24hrs...
We're isolating the family, seems pointless to isolate individuals as me and the ms has very similar symptoms.

The shortness of breath makes it sound like it could be. Have you been to any of the hotspots recently? Although you could catch it anywhere
-
• #157
It is very much in the community now. We're quite far past worrying about travel hotspots unfortunately.

We're isolating the family
Definitely the right thing to do, like you say, could be normal flu but without a test who knows.
Did you get it first? Because that means you only need to self-isolate for a week, while the rest of the family have to do 14 days. Every cloud and all that.
-
• #159
If someone has symptoms then it's 7 days from the onset of symptoms, isn't it? Only 14 days if no symptoms but living with someone who has, I think.

I was in the french alps last week and flew home to Sweden via london, so plenty of opportunities to catch it.
The rest of the family had a bug when I got home though, so no idea if I got theirs or picked it up before. Either way we’ll stay put until Monday even though the general guidelines here are that anyone without symptoms should go to work / school.
Our 6yo has been symptom free all week and she’s bored out of her head. She woke me up at 430 this morning asking me “please dad can I go to school tomorrow and see my friends, I really miss them”
I’m working remote so isolating is no difference for me but for the kids it’s been tough

Yes - this.
missus-ru finishes monday, I finish tuesday and the kids (all healthy) still have another week to see if symptoms turn up. We're out and partying en famille on 30th. (not actually partying) -
• #162
Yeah, I have a self-interest in the details too. Mine and my girlfriend's 7 days is up now-ish although I'm still feeling breathless and lethargic so I'm not leaving the house.
The kids have had no symptoms so are still under 14 day rules.

Er yes, sorry. I seem to have trouble with this for some reason. Also thought just @kboy had symptoms. Refer to http://nhs.uk/coronavirus not me!

There has been little, if any, info I can find for what you can/can't do post infection. I suppose as the official numbers here are still 3,000 or so it's not really considered. But if/when there is an antibody test available it would make sense to get people tested as soon as possible so they can get back out into the economy. Though I suppose that doesn't encourage those who haven't had it to stay isolated.
Probably quite a tough call that. -

Nadine Dorries was given this advice:
For those who have had #coronavirus they will be immune for at least the duration of the endemic season. Only in rare cases, as with any infection, could someone catch it twice. As confirmed by @CMO_England
Obviously not useful for people who arent a confirmed case tho

I wonder when blackmarket papers saying you've had it and are clear will become the thing. Won't be long.
It'll be free passage to the pub. -

I’m not particularly worried about the virus itself, more the consequences of it. I’m 57, ride at least 100 miles a week and have just started the couch to 5k thingy, although I’m a bit flabby in places. I get occasional night-time asthma and have an inhaler on standby, and I’m on medication for anxiety issues and so I do get stressed about things a bit unnecessarily, so I’ve been a bit on edge this week. My wife is immuno-supressed due to meds for psoriaric arthritis and so is a bit more vulnerable.
I’ve had a cough/cold for a good three weeks or so now, but it’s productive and not dry. No temperature or sore throat, or aches. I’m not sure what to think tbh, but although I’m still working we’ve split the five of us into two teams, one does 4 days and the other does 3 so we don’t interact. Wife is an NHS behaviour analyst at the Maudsley and is now WFH.
I’ve been getting a bit anxious about the whole infrastructure issue tbh. My anxiety means I do get the odd cold flush and think “shit, what if this gets really bad?” - if London or even the whole county goes on lockdown, then the issue of supplies is going to go one of two ways. It could stop panic buying or it could really scare people into continuing to clear the shelves of everything. We’re all being told to wash our hands but it’s nigh-on impossible to find any anti-bac now.
In the meantime I’m on my day off and and self-isolating in bed with the cat while the wife works in the kitchen as her office. Then I’m gonna risk a trip or two to the council tip and then go for a run, mostly because the wife hates having me around when she’s working or studying :)

No need for anti-bac handwash, soap will do
Look after your knees, don’t run too far too fast (like I have, twice)
Stay away from people at the tip
Don’t run out of inhaler stuff
And finally, you’ve done a lot of things right so far and your health gives you a much stronger position to battle it compared to others.
Stay strong - you’ve got this 👊

If no one is getting tested, how do you know you've not just had some other bug and then you cop it later when all this shit is over?
Can you be tested post-infection?
-
• #170
Not yet they’re working on a test apparently
-
• #171
I see. Coz if you went around thinking "had it, I'm immune" or whatever you're gonna cause more bloody problems.

I woke up without fever today, 4th day. Still no signs from the rest of the family.
Started homeschooling today. The kids hate me.

I had what I assumed was the flu the week before Christmas. I’ve had full flu a couple of times and the only thing that differentiated it this time was the incredible lung burn and associated cough. It crossed my mind that it might not have been flu. My symptoms were (using your bullet points):
-Fever - check
-Cough - check. Horrible dry burning cough right down in my lungs.
-Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing - if being knackered going up the stairs is this, then check. I was really out of breath going up stairs and left my lungs burning. Was for weeks afterwards.
-Tiredness - check. See below.
-Aches - check. Usual flu type muscle and joint pain that was only really alleviated with codeine and paracetamol. Couldn't move out of bed for 4 days.
-Runny nose - check. Not for me.
-Sore throat - nope. Can’t remember, but I think there was a pretty bad sore throat to start with, which I thought was the start of a cold but which went away and quickly spread into my lungs and was burning. -
• #174
I’d love to not get burning lungs. If this is clearing up in few days then I might’ve been lucky considering your story
Edit: think I spoke too soon, just started to get a burning sensation after my coughs. Went downstairs for water and got up knackered and been coughing since. Fuck this shit.

Yes. Antibody tests are already available although not yet fully benchmarked for accuracy.
I think the UK is planning on trying to buy lots of them to allow people to go back to work if they've had it and recovered.
Why not? Have you had the flu yet this season? If not, hard to say. Impossible to know anyway of course. Fever is much higher than most covid cases as I understand it, sounds more like flu.
